This should be an interesting discussion. Who is the bigger bust from the '19 recruiting class between Owen Pappoe and Bo Nix?

Coming into the 2022 season Walter football's 2023 mock draft has Owen the number 12 LB and projected rounds 4-6. They also have Bo the number 11 QB and projected rounds 4-6.

Coming out of high both players were #1 rated at their positions. Owen was number 25 nationally overall with Bo being number 33 overall.

Yep. I did say that. No denying. Still not wrong yet however I don't expect him to jump into the first round at this time.

Different topic of discussion tho in this thread

Again the main topic of the thread is which player from the same class has been a bigger bust? Bo or Owen.

I haven't given my opinion yet because I'm still open in the discussion.

Bo a 5 star qb should be a game changer and while neither lived up to the hype yet Owen is due to injury.

Both players were 5 star recruits. Both were considered "1st round" players coming out of high school. Regardless of position "5 star" players should impact games almost equally.

Example Derrick Brown. 5 Star DT impacted almost every game his last 2 seasons and was a big contributor in his early career.

Bo has rewrote a few records at Auburn.

Pappoe hasn’t statistically had a decent season since he had Derrick Brown as a teammate. His past two seasons have been graded under 50 by PFF and not all of that is injury

Is this a real question?

Going after a little discussion. Figured it would bring interest instead of dick measuring contests that's been rampant on the board.

The whole idea of projecting 17 year olds to NFL glory seeks hard to me.

The best player at a high school is often on the field with only 2 or 3 athletes who can compete with him.

There are some high schools with college talent at several positions, but I would guess that for many high school games, a star player is often in a league of his own as far as the other 23 players on the field together.

I know there are games where this is not true like a Hoover vs whoever, but a “5 star” often matches up with a guy who is playing his last season of football.

Bo and Pappoe. Neither lived up to the rating, but both had chances. Bo did more at Auburn. Pappoe has this season to get better.

The answer is Pappoe and it’s not particularly close.

He is eerily similar to Kris Frost. Great cover guy. Can’t hide him enough in run support.

Unlike Bo, Pappoe has all the measurables. He is nicknamed the freak for a reason. That God Given ability needs to shine through.

Just looked it up: Owen’s career PFF grade is 58.5.

Pappoe has been hurt a lot. This season things might be different for him. I hope so anyway.

To be fair you didn’t meet your end of the bet either.

As for Bo, he had late first round potential but the numbers don’t justify the potential. If he has a good season at Oregon he can become a good second day pick.

Nix may have had the talent to go first round... just not the head.

There is still at least 1 season for each. Both could return for their covid years as well in ‘24 not that I think they will.
