Why? I would love to see them again. The Vols can beat anyone on this tournament. This Vols team is a different team than what Texas faced last year and earlier this year. We actually had the lead against Texas earlier this year and 1 bad inning beat us. We made some uncharacteristic errors and mental mistakes that game in 1 inning that costed some unearned runs. Outside of 1 or 2 innings that game Tennessee handled Texas for majority of the game.

I looked it up and there’s no mention of seeding prior to 1999. My personal recollection because of LSU is they did not seed. The committee was still using districts to assign regional appearances. That goes back to 1986 and prior

They’ve been slowly building. Good young coach who played for them when they were a national power

Is he young? Didn’t really look it. Not to be disrespectful to the man, just didn’t look like a younger coach.

You might be right, young ‘un.

But we kinda have a tradition of winning when we’re not supposed too.

I said outside of 1 or 2 innings. And I’m talking about the game this year. Texas scored 6 runs in the 6th and 7th innings. Outside of those 2 innings Texas didn’t do shite. Tennessee made some big errors in the 6th and 7th inning that led to most of them runs. But nonetheless, just know if you make it to Omaha Texas will not beat Tennessee again.

Prob shouldn’t have said young, just new to Stanford. He took Cal to the CWS. He’s been at Stanford for a few years now and got them back to Omaha for the first time in almost 15 years last year after making the supers the year prior.

Tennessee never had a lead against Texas

Basically.. he/she is saying that Tennessee is guaranteed to be the fist team since Y2K to win the CWS as the #1 seed.

That’s what I heard at least.

Texas got a brutal draw, they’ll be lucky to make it out of their regional.

Sarcasm, right? They have one of the easiest draws to the CWS. Pretty much the entire field of eight in the Austin, and Greeneville regionals is mid-majors

I was skeptical all year that tenn could run it all the way. I am starting to think otherwise now. They are a force.

I think they are the best team by a pretty wide margin. Still that could be said of quite a few teams who didn't go on to win it all recently. We'll see. But it's going to take some luck to bounce Tennessee from the tournament.

This is baseball, not football.

Since 1999, the mid-majors have sent 36 teams to the CWS, an average of 1.64/yr, and have won the CWS 6 times since then, most recently by Coastal Carolina in 2016.

Since 1999, 6 mid-majors have won more CWS games in one year than A&M has won in their entire history.

This isn’t football or basketball, Louisiana Tech and Dallas Baptist are both better than a majority of teams in 3/5 “major” conferences. Both would win the Big 10.
