The way this is going, Im starting to think I’d rather LSU just bow out and rest
MS State tanked it last year and it worked out pretty well for them.

The problem with single elim from the start is that it means most teams are only getting 1 game in.
With the 12 team format, it could be as low as 4 and as many as 8 teams only getting one game.

Any estimate on when the game will start?

Not sure why the delayed the start. I’m in Hoover and it hasn’t rained all morning. It did rain overnight so maybe the field was too wet? And there is a line that’s been heading our way all morning. Still, had they started at 9:30 we could be 4 or 5 innings into game 1.

Rain should be completely gone around 3. Maybe 3:30, 7, 10:45/11pm game times today?? If we can squeeze all three in, the double elim format is still in play.

You are banking on 3 hour games for the first two. Good luck with that!!

The LSU game will go long. Jay Johnson already has 2 pitching changes ready

This is gay. Move the tournament from Hoover.

I'm not sure why the SEC hasn't announced a contingency plan for the rest of the tournament.

The SEC has really dropped the ball on addressing the weather issues that have been abundantly clear for days now. That they haven't explored any contingencies to get the tournament completed is ridiculous. Instead of doing what's obvious to everyone else paying attention (make the tournament single elimination and play games simultaneously at Samford), they're just going to wing it and keep delaying games. It's like they want Sunday evening to get here and then find out they can't finish and have to name a champion by default (the highest remaining seed). What a joke this has become.

Hoover has nothing to do with it. Weather issues happen in at outdoor sport played in May in the Southeast. What shouldn't happen is SEC leadership not having a clue on how to deal with weather issues when they present themselves. For as much money as these idiots are paid, this isn't acceptable.

A&M will play its usual four hour and 15 minute game to get us off to a flying start today.

Just to play devil’s advocate, they also know the weather is supposed to be perfect Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and with only 2 games on Saturday and one Sunday, they have some buffer time built in. They likely knew if they could get X amount of games in between the rain, they were fine. I think 2 today is the magic number without having to drastically change things(7 inning games, 2nd venue, etc.)
I do agree better communication would help, and it’s puzzling they didn’t start at the posted 9:30 time this morning. Guessing the field wasn’t playable or something. There was an hour and a half of no ran from 9:30 to 11. Could have potentially allowed 3 games to be played today.

This will simply screw up the pitching rotations and depth for the regionals. Pitchers usually get a week's rest. That is unlikely to happen for some teams.

Schloss spoke about that with TA during the delay. He doesn't expect to use normal pitching rotations because of the regionals.

Doing this screws over your conference for tournament play, though. In this scenario, teams would theoretically have to play multiple double headers, and half the regions will start on Thursday. So teams are going to be expected to burn through their pitching staffs and then be expected to be ready to roll when things really matter next weekend. Or we'll just have teams throw the bottom of their bullpens and treat the SECT as an exhibition.

Benefits LSU since we have the most unorthodox pitching rotation in the SEC.
