Notre Dame cancels a lot of games due to travel issues, my guess is they overextend themselves by traveling all over the country.
South Bend to Virginia isn't exactly a jaunt down the street.

Marshall only has a turf infield, the outfield is still grass. They also don't have lighting so the games have to be played earlier in the day.

You’re right. Let’s not jump to RPI conclusions, maybe ND didn’t know where Virginia was when they scheduled the game.
