It seems as if we have a damn good shot at it. We mathematically still have a chance to win 40 games (even though I don’t think it’ll happen). Y’all think we host?

17 conference wins and we will host without a doubt.

magic number is 16/17 conference wins including the
SEC Tourney. I like our chances.

there are 8 regular season games left. We would have to finish 5-3 and get 3 wins in the sect to get to 40 before the selection. It’s more possible than you think.

If we win our last two series, both midweek games, and 2 games in the SECT, we'll get to 40 wins. That's very doable

As of this second, yes. Easily.
Without getting TOO complicated:
Last year the top 7 SEC seeds hosted a regional.
Were 32-15 right now. and 3rd place overall in SEC. (East and West)

Lets Say we go 4-4 in Final 8.
That puts us at 36 - 19.
That is better than FLA and SC and even with OM last year. All hosted regionals.
Last year the statistically worst SEC team to host a regional was SC at 33-21.

If we win the next two series and look decent in Hoover, absolutely. We have zero shot at a Super. Logic would dictate that we end up paired with USM, but logic doesn't have a lot to do with it when it comes to the committee and LSU and they'll probably send us to the West Coast (again). Maybe they know that LSU fans travel wherever so they send us to the places that other team's fans are less likely to travel to.

We have at least 7 more conference games and we need to win at least 3. I think we will win 3 more regular season conference games and at least 2 tournament games. Looking good.

There is only 2 supers I don't want to play in and that's Tenn and the Beavers.

We absolutely will host a regional. The Super is the only thing we're working towards at this point, IMO.

17 is a lock for regional
18 gets us a 9-12 seed
19 gets us an outside shot at the 8 seed
20 gets us top 8 for sure

I'd count SECT wins as half a win for those numbers.

I feel like we need to go at least 2/3 in the remaining series and win the mid week games, then win at least 1 tourny game to lock down a regional host.

Sweep the next two weekends and win 2 tourny games and we are hosting a super

I think we’ll host to based off of the fact we have the best fan base in college baseball. It would be tough for the committee to pick some no-name team to host over us

Just win baby Win.

Ole Miss and Vandy are beatable but won't be easy taking both series. Both teams have underperformed by a country mile. They will be chomping at the bit to take down LSU to prove themselves going into post-season.

LSU is currently #16 in the RPI. Dallas Baptist is ahead of them but only 9-6 in their conference having lost 3 of 5 series. Georgia Southern’s RPI is just anomaly and I think the committee will see through that. Vandy, Auburn, Georgia and Florida are ahead of LSU with worse conference records. On the flip side, you have Arkansas and Stanford with better conference records. As of today, LSU would probably be a #12-13 seed.

So, what would drop them from the top 16? If they finish behind Auburn, Georgia and A&M in the conference standings, that probably puts them at #15. They probably only lose a host spot to Vandy if they get swept by them or if Vandy wins the series and the series at Arkansas. If Southern Miss finishes with a higher RPI, that could drop LSU to #16. Texas and Florida St could pass them if they end up with better conference records, but FSU has Miami and at UNC left which is going to be tough.

So what do they need to do?
1) Don’t get swept by Vandy.
2) Finish with a better/equal conference record than 2 out of 5 amongst Auburn, Georgia, A&M, Texas and FSU. (Maybe Florida as well if they sweep their last 2 series.)

So, the answer to the question is still somewhat dependent on what other teams do as well. If they end up 17-13, they almost certainly stay ahead of enough teams to be in the Top 16. At 16-14, it’s going to depend on how things shake out for the others on this list.
