Brandon Allen passed for fewer yards, fewer touchdowns, more interceptions, and had a lower completion percentage and passer rating than McCarron. Not only that, but McCarron has a shite ton more hardware than Allen does.
Mccaron is possibly the most overrated player of all time. He had all Americans at every position practically. Was he a bad QB - no. Was he really that good? frick no. He literally had better players at every position than everyone and not to mention the best defense all 3 years in college football. The 2011 Bama defense gave up what? Like 8 points per game gtfo here. I think a lot of QBs in the country could have won a championship breaking 8 points a game.

Connor Shaw for an honorable mention at least? 17-0 at home, was really solid for SC. in one season he only had one INT

His starting WRs in 2011 were Marquis Maze, DeAndrew White, and Darius Hanks. Want to know how many were drafted or saw any playing time in the NFL? Zero. They still finished #2 in the conference in total offense and #3 in the conference in scoring offense that year.

Lol. You had 7 All-Americans on that team that gave up 8 points a game. 2 Unanimous AA’s on offense and 2 Unanimous AA’s on defense. Your entire offensive line were either All-SEC or All-American.
I’ll stand corrected on the fact you didn’t have super stars at Receiver but you literally had the best Tailback, best center, best offensive line, and the best overall defense lol. There were a dozen maybe even more QBs in college football who could have led that team to a national title. McCarron was a serviceable game manager and nothing else. He is easily one of the most overrated players of all time.

Tell me how many sacks that o line gave up and how many rushing yards they had per game. You can live with pretty average receivers when you have an entire team of first round draft picks on the offensive line. You have enough time even you average receivers can’t stay covered forever.

It wasn't because of AJ though, he was only marginally better in 2011 than 2021 Max Johnson.
