LINK
Makes sense.

Don't be shocked if you hear speculation about Tulsa's Todd Graham, Vanderbilt's Bobby Johnson and Texas Tech's Mike Leach, among others. But the top contenders look to be former Oakland Raiders coach Lane Kiffin and Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp.
Makes sense.

Muschamp is waiting for SEC ball, he wants to coach in a real league.

When did Kiffin become a legitimate head coach hire? Everyone who thinks he will succeed is basing this speculation on Mike Shanahan's career pretty much.

Just got a call from somebody in SC in the know...Boosters are preparing to offer Nick Saban 6mil per year on a ten year contract.
This guy a CU alum and Army retiree who is involved with their booster club.

If I were hiring, Muschamp seems to be the best fit. He played ball at Georgia and coached at Auburn. C'mon, he knows the South. Coached pro-ball in Miami. He'd be a great hire.

i think muschamp knows the texas job is his in two years. i just don't see him making the jump. clemson is not as sexy a job as people make it out to be. JMO.

He's going to have to learn to keep composure on the sideline, though.

I don’t think so...it's not like they have a jimbo fisher type deal in place (at least not publicly). If muschamp turns down Clemson I would imagine it is because he has another job lined up at the end of the season. Now if Mack Brown said he is out after two more years and Muschamp has been promised the job then yeah, he would be stupid not to wait for texas...that’s one of the best jobs in the country… money, support, facilities and recruiting base are top notch.
Texas could hire almost anybody they want...they are not the kind of program that should promise their job to an unproven assistant. Also, Mack Brown is only 57…has he said he is retiring or something? I would think he could coach for another 8-10 years or so.

6 Million is a lot in a down economy. Boosters do not have as much wealth as they used too. That is another reason why they will not fire Tuberville. $6 Million is too much.

The Governor of WV and Saban have a handshake agreement that the WV job is his at any price when Stewart fails.

Can't see Kiffin going anywhere until his suit with Al Davis is finalized. Getting another job would probably kill whatever leverage he might have. Why risk "free" money from Al?

If they think Tubs needs to go and they can get someone better, trust me with or without a down economy they will fire him, pay what needs to be paid and throw whatever money that is required at the guy they want. I think you are underestimating the amount of money the people making these decisions have at their disposal, and how much of it they will spend on Auburn.
To put it another way, if Tubs is not the man for the job in the eyes of the people running the university, then firing tubs and hiring the right guy would generate way more than 6 million dollars in additional revenue in one year. Also Buyouts are hardly ever paid in full, Tubervilles contract is over 30 pages, and there are allot of potential loop holes etc.

There have just been WAY too many of these, so called "handshake agreements' about too many coaches, for a rumor about them to be given any validity.

maybe not valid enough for you, but i'll trust my boys at orangebloods...they haven't led me astray yet.
