"Saban gave me hope" - Trey Sanders Story of Comeback

quote:

"I think Coach Saban was one of the main persons who kept me going throughout the process. … Coach Saban would call me into meetings and he’d talk to me and he’d give me hope on the future.”

quote:

“Each time he talked to me, he gave me hope and just gave me a better outlook on how I wanted to come out of my injury and come out of my car wreck. I felt like having Coach Saban on my side, that’s helped me a lot, most definitely. That was the main part he’s played a big part in.”

I hope he's able to have a good enough season to go pro and get some money. He has been through so much shite but seems to have an uncommonly mature attitude about it all. He deserves a happy ending to his story.

I sure hope so. He seems like a fine young man that has persevered in spite of really bad luck, and done it with a positive attitude. I'm a huge Trey fan and have been since he signed with us, and moreso than ever now.

“I’ll say that since I’ve been going through this process of not playing football, I actually learned a lot about myself outside of football and realize what I wanna do one day after I’m done playing the game,” he said. “And hopefully, when I’m done playing football, I’m able to do the same thing I was when I was playing the game -- inspire people. That’s the main outlook I’ve been having these last couple years.”

This part really got to me. Beyond winning attitude.

I hope he blows the frick up this year and wins the Heisman. We need more Trey Sanders and Devonta Smiths and fewer Agiye Halls and Jahleel Billingsleys.

Yep - makes you happy to see kids who are mature beyond their years. He seems to be one.

What a great character guy, against all odds and still going after it.

The fact that he's come as far as he has after those brutal injuries is pretty telling of his character, attitude, and drive. Glad he's in our corner.

The world needs more people like Trey Sanders. If anyone can't bring themselves to cheer for this kid, then there's something wrong with them.

This can't be true. All I hear from the LSU fans - who are experts on all things Saban - is what a miserable jerk coach is who just uses his players up and spits them out.

(This is a good story and it'd be great for the kid to break out this year)
