2022 Season Thoughts

I think we have a great chance to be back in ATL and even the CFP. Looking at all the pieces it looks like our D will take a step back obviously but still top notch. I actually think our O will be even better. Not saying we repeat but 12 wins and a possible trip back to the CFP is a possibility again. What are your thoughts?

I think we take a step back.
BUT, a step back for us will likely still have us playing in the SECCG with a trip to the CFP on the line. Nobody in the East is really posed to mess with us, barring another 2019 South Carolina incident.

Our offense appears to be stacked, every position.

A step back may also still have us 12-0 with the way this schedule sets up. Win or lose in Atlanta and I think we’d be in again.

it'll be a total failure if we don't win the east again. We aren't going to be as good as we were last year but there's no one on our schedule that is as good as we are either, and even allowing a slip up somewhere along the way we should still win the east.
We will most likely lose to AL int he seccg because they are going to be ridiculously good this year. Not sure if we're a playoff team or not, that's entirely dependent on how the rest of america is doing, but I think a season similar to 2019 (on paper) would be realistic, in that we make but lose the SECCG and win a high profile bowl game.

UTk in yesr two might give us a run for our money. We do get them in Athens though. Just not sure when we play if our secondary will hold up without the nasty front 7.
I think passing may have some early growing pains due to WR depth/experience/health. But I'm hoping KM and KM improve on explosive run plays. O line should be pretty nasty.
I'd say 11-1 or 10-2

12-0 is very possible, but I lean towards calling 11-1. A lot changes when you're the king of the hill and everyone wants to knock you off. Upsets happen and trap games can get you.
Anything less than the SECCG will be a let down. Alabama is going to be a force next year, so I would be impressed if we beat them in Atlanta.
And scared cause that means we'd see them again in the CFP, but with the roles reversed from 2021.

Luck is such a huge factor. One or two injuries ..one or two fumbles.
I think the offense has a chance to be more explosive as we depend less on defense.
I have no idea about Oregon but no other team on our sched has the talent and depth we do.
Side note..did we pick up an portal guys of note??

The d will step back but it was so good that a step back is still elite. Pkus defense is what this staff does and recruits for. We will be a top 3 defense nect year.
We had plenty of room to score more points last year so i think the o is improved.
Dont see a loss in the regular season.

If that team loses 2 regular season games, there’s gonna be a shitload of pissed off people.

you think?
they could go 6-6 next year and I will still be buzzing off the natty.
i could see Oregon getting us and then us losing to UTk. if we get some more bodies in the secondary through the portal that might change my mind, but we cant lose what we lost and expect to not miss a beat on defense. I have faith in Monken but the margin for error on offense drops off significant amount without those dudes on defense.

Can’t have that mindset. Gotta continue to fight and dominate. The talent alone has set up a 2-3 year run. Gotta take advantage.

UGA will physically dominate both those teams… bully beat down… imo.

The offense will be unreal… still have a TON of weapons. We should be playing a lot of young players in the 3-4 quarters early in the season. While that is happening, the machine will be oiled and ready in December for Bama. I think we got em’.

This would have made more sense for 2021.

Losing Burton and Pickens makes it make sense this year too in my opinion

Oregon got straight up out manned my Utah. We ain’t Utah. Even after our personnel losses. UTK would need to discover a fun word called defense to keep it close.

We lost Pickens before 2021, and then lost our starting qb, plus all of the other wr vets were hurt going into 2021, so 2022 is a hell of a lot better off so far.

Offensively I think we will be better than 2021. Stacey Searles is a run-oriented coach and will improve the run game. Our RB corps this season will be stronger and deeper than any since 2017.
The defense has lots of reps from 2021 with all the rotation we do, except for a few guys in the secondary. The Oregon game concerns me.

Only time I get worried about playing UTK is when it's up in Knoxville.
Their last two wins in Athens came in '06 and '16. With the most recent one obviously being a fluke hail mary win over a down Georgia squad.
Tennessee is also becoming the way too obvious "dark horse" pick in the SEC East. I think they're getting a little too much hype and we could see them not really live up to it.

McConkey and Mitchell have real experience now. MRJS will be fully healthy. Kearis Jackson led the team in 2020, was hurt last season. If Blaylock can be 80% of himself that’s huge too. Add in the TE and Kenny McIntosh. I think we should be better.
