10 Ways to Learn

He discusses different styles of learning. Coach Gates did his Masters in Adult Education. He talks through how he applied the various styles of learning to coaching and helping his players.

Couple of takeaways. He’s a good to very good communicator. He’s thoughtful and has really thought about how you help other people learn. It’s easy to see why he would be impressive in an interview process.

About halfway through and will finish later. Seems like an interesting man and I'm hoping he does well. I'm more mildly excited to see how this goes.

I watched it.

He is very eloquent and way more personable than Cuonzo.

But that doesn't fill Mizzou Arena or make an exciting product.

I'll reserve judgment for now and just hope he can recruit/coach to all the glowing reviews that RMN and others are putting out.

If he plays "Cuonzo-ball the Sequel" and loses multiple games by 20 ...

Cuonzo had no personality. I took my son to a Mizzou basketball camp about 4 years ago and at the end of it they had a little thing where the kids could get autographs. They had them lined up and Cuonzo at the end. This was right after Jontay announced he was coming back. We got down to him and I asked him how excited he was that Jontay was coming back, he gave me this really weird look and said “if he’s here then I’ll coach him” was just a weird response and he seemed offended I even asked the question. I didn’t see him smile the entire time (outside of photo ops) we were there and mind you this is a bunch of kids playing basketball. It’s supposed to be fun.

The day ended with them sitting us in the first few rows behind the basket and Cuonzo coming out to talk to us. He droned on for 20 mins and you literally couldn’t hear a word he said

Cuonzo was old school. He really thought all that mattered was what happened on the floor. So he ended up with no equity from the fans for the success he did have.

Well, at least he's not got that pissed off saint vibe that CM constantly radiated.
