SOG NCAAT Bracketology - Pre SEC Tournament Edition 3-7-22 (powered by Torvik)

Hey friends! Gonna post these once a week or so based on the Torvik formulas and see how terrible and wrong they are. Figured they would be better outside the basketball thread.
Torvik Bracketology
As noted in a previous edition, Gonzaga will almost certainly be a #1 seed if they win out. But the metrics that most agree make sense with everyone else in America would not place them there. But they will end up there. Just to get that out of the way.

Auburn getting Iowa in the Round of 32

Is it bad that I'd be like "Really hope Illinois doesn't get upset by Iona"?

I actually like that draw for us. Seton Hall will cause us some problems because they're extremely long and switch off defensively with ease but they don't have much firepower offensively.
If Iona pulls the upset, we'll be ready. If it's Illinois, their size will give us trouble but at least we have experience with opponents having a major size advantage like Kentucky and Auburn, Illinois is at least one tier down from them.
I have no idea what to make of Houston, they're like 0-3 in Q1 games this year I think.

Same, and I can't figure out how they keep ranking so high in both on court and win/loss metrics. I mean what they have done is impressive, really impressive, but I don't get the Top 10 rankings.
They've basically beaten Virginia, Oregon and Oklahoma State (all bubble or NIT teams)....and all with Sasser.

Maybe it's just because we haven't had a normal tournament for the last couple of years (or tournament at all) but this year's tournament is setting up to be crazy. A lot of top teams are getting hot at the right time. The bracket is going to be a bloodbath.

Agreed - feels like a whole lot of teams who are within 5 points of each other depending on which version shows up

12s and 13s are weirdly scary. They are usually some combination of upperclassman led, more talented than the rest of their conference, and better coached than the rest of their conference

We would have played about half the teams in our region

We would have played 14 of the teams in the whole tournament, too

Don't like that matchup at all.

idk where we would better off at, but i'm not fond of that draw either. its like they want baylor to get revenge, if we can get by providence. would love to see chattanooga beat providence. i live about 20 minutes from chattaboogy.

Updated (and yes, in reality Gonzaga will be a #1 seed even though their actual win metrics might not say so)
