Why would Bruce Pearl ever leave Auburn?

I remember in the early days hearing how BP would bolt for a better job as soon as he could. He has built our program into the elite ranks, he has one of the most passionate fan bases and one of the best home environments in college basketball.
The man will have the arena named after him and he is just hitting his stride. What would it take (other than ncaa penalties for some future reason) that would make him want to leave Auburn?

A different school offering him a job is probably all it takes. You’re Auburn. It’s not like you are some traditional basketball powerhouse.

I am guessing this is a joke

Only reason I could see him leaving is if the basketball program ended up getting the same "friendly advice" that the football team was getting from your BoT in the past.
So long as that's been nixed, I don't see much reason for him to leave.

Pearl isn’t leaving Auburn…he’s built something special there…
Plus new arena, one of the best atmospheres in college basketball…
And he’ll keep recruiting…
Don’t listen to Aggy…

Reading this made my skin crawl.

I suppose he could leave if he was offered a job with a historical powerhouse such as Kentucky, Duke, etc. But I’m guessing it would have to be something of that magnitude.

Probably for the same reason he "left" UT.

He wasn't staring down the barrel of a gun was he?

Even that point, if you built a program to be on par with those blue bloods, what is the pull? He is already legend at Auburn and pulling the same level of recruits. Wouldn’t you rather be the God of basketball at a place like Auburn than basically having to be your best to meet expectations at the blue blood programs?

As long as he can continue to recruit the state of GA at this rate, no need to leave and start over.

a show-cause penalty is an administrative punishment ordering that any NCAA penalties imposed on a coach found to have committed major rules violations will stay in effect against that coach for a specified period of time—and could also be transferred to any other NCAA-member school that hires the coach while the sanctions are still in effect.

It is currently the most severe penalty that can be brought against an American collegiate coach.

Maybe but I think that there are those handful of jobs in any sport that may have enough of a pull that a coach with some years left might want to pursue even given the fact that they and their program are in a very good situation.

"years ago, Tom Yeager uttered one of the most chilling phrases in NCAA infractions history. Alabama football, he said, was “absolutely staring down the barrel of a gun,” in the infamous Albert Means case. He did not have to elaborate.
If not for the extraordinary efforts of others, he said, Crimson Tide football would have gotten The Big Haircut back in 2002 -- the death penalty. Think about that scenario. Yeager already has, several times. Now more than ever."

"Uttered a phrase"
Vs
Actually being hit with a show cause
Geez which one sounds more serious?

Yep, he had a great thing going at Tennessee, it was fun to watch him and Pat Summitt support one another.
I wanted him as coach over Mike Anderson.
If he keeps his nose clean he'll do well where he is.

Tbh (this may not be a talking point anymore) Dabo at clemson had always been discussed as bolting to Bama when it opens up. I guess it’s pretty much the exact same situation i was outlining with BP.

Thats one big arse if. Especially considering they put themselves on probation just last year already.

Exactly, that would be my thought as well.
