How about the Dawgs defense?

Defense played lights out. Keeping Bama to just 3 field goals in the first half, with Williams in the game, allowed us to be within striking distance.
And allowing Bama just one touch down in the whole game, and that also from a short distance, was exceptional.
Kudos to the Dawgs defense!

Yep Offense did enough to win but the story is the defense. Held them to one TD and that was after the “fumble” with a short field. They played lights out.
Given the way this season played out it was a storybook ending.

They ran the bill belicheck style defense to perfection last night. So proud of our boys.

They proved that the SECCG was a fluke. They also proved that they're one of the most elite defenses in college football history.
And, as we've come accustomed to seeing with these Kirby defenses, it's nearly impossible to point to just one player as the difference-maker. We had winning contributions from nearly every player on the defense.
I only wish the "told ya so" Stet people would take their focus off of trying to prove they were somehow "right", and instead heap that praise on the unit that truly pushed us to this national title, the defense. This group of people also includes many media members (Radi).

I believe they were like #3 or #4 in points allowed for national championship teams in the last 25 years.
Up there with 2001 Miami and 2011 Alabama. Damn good.

The D was a well-oiled machine throughout the game. Limiting the #1 team in the country to FGs and only 1 TD in the RZ (that was gifted to them on the 15, no less) was fricking Man Ball, personified.
