The band is awesome! The UGA poster on the GSB named Peter Buck is a handicapped dickKisser.
(Peter Buck is the name of one of the band members of REM.)

I was temporarily roadie for them when they played at Ole Miss, they guy I was helping the whole time, who i thought was another roadie, was actually one if the guitar players and great guy. Micheal Stripes or whatever his name is, was one the weirdest gay dudes i have ever been around.

I like to think of R.E.M. as an old band. A very retro alternative band back when alternative was pure.
But, then I remember that they formed the same year as Georgia’s last national championship, and then it really strikes me how long ago that was.
Murmur, Document, Automatic for the People, etc. ALL came out since 1980.

I heard one of their songs on XM earlier and wondered why they don’t reunite. No bad blood or anything that I know of
Maybe one day…

Star Room Boys are another great Athens band.

Anyone remember The Breaks by Curtis Blow? Came out in 1980 and was a huge hit. Rap really started to take off in the 80s.
In 82 Grandmaster Flash recorded The Message. I remember hearing that song on the radio in the fall of 1982. We had one R&B radio station in Tupelo at the time. Always had it turned up in my car.

Leave Panic out of this. JB and the Boys deserve better.

1986. Lifes Rich Pageant. I remember it well. My first concert. I also remember hanging out with my friends at the Holiday Inn after the concert to catch a glimpse. Great times.

Relax, man… he was just setting up a nice one-liner that played off on REM lyrics.

REM is one of the greatest bands of all time. They were the soundtrack to my coming of age years.
