Of course I pick Bama but what does everyone else think?

Two pretty damn good defenses.

UGA by a mile. Many of those Bama players have gotten fat and out of shape by now

2011 Bama had a more capable offense than 2021 UGA. And Bama had a better defense due to secondary.

Good point.
Bama 40 UGA 13

I think we had better linebackers too.

2011 offense with Maze as the #1 WR would not score a TD on UGA at all.
That Bama offensive line and Trent Richardson would get Bama to the RedZone and Cade Foster would miss kicks. Shelley would make the ones under 38 yards. It would be another 9-6 type game with UGA winning due to better special teams.

Fortunately we have a tool just to perform this simulation.
The setting: 2011 Bama vs 2021 Georgia, neutral field:
The results - note that I ran the simulation three times. Averaging out a multiple game scenario provides better results than any single game, which can skew on the basis of a single play. So here is three:
If you don't like these results, run your own simulations. Select your own teams and away/home. Go nuts. Run the exact same setting I did and you might find yourself with 3 UGA wins. But, these were the first three I ran. I also stayed with a balanced offense set, which I think would be true enough for both teams. But you can change that setting as well. You can simulate games in other sports also.
WHAT IF Sports Simulations
Edit: I also ran three of 2021 Bama (favor pass) vs 2021 UGA (favor run), neutral field. Bama also won all three with the margins of 40-21, 52-31, and 37-34. I would note however, that the Bama players include Metchie (you can't take individual players, at least not that I could tell). Maybe you could edit the depth chart for a team.

2011 lost to Jordan Fricking Jefferson! I repeat, Jordan Fricking Jefferson. Analysis ends right there.

Why would analysis end on anything after a sample size of one?

BAMA 2011, and it's not close.

I'd take 2011 and 2016 Bama over this UGA squad

How about 11 and 16 Bama against 18 Clemson?

2011 BAMA held the #1/2 team in the country to 9 total points through 8 quarters and an overtime.

Very similar. Some Alabama fans made a point that with today's offenses, Georgia's defense should get more credit.
I don't remember Alabama's offense from then....but that just shows how great that defense was.
It's almost impossible to compare them. They come from different eras. Both excellent teams.
