Do you mean without having to sit a year? Technically players can transfer as many times as they want if a school will admit them before they graduate. I am not aware of a limit.

Once before they graduate. As a graduate, they can transfer again if they still have eligibility and not sit out a year.
That is my understanding of the rules of transfer.

One time before graduation. Then a second time after graduation. Theoretically a guy could actually play for 3 schools in 4 years if he graduates early.

I may be wrong but they will also be limited on their eligibility as well.
quote:

Division I five-year clock: If you play at a Division I school, you have five-calendar years in which to play four seasons of competition. Your five-year clock starts when you enroll as a full-time student at any college. Thereafter, your clock continues, even if you spend an academic year in residence as a result of transferring; decide to redshirt, if you do not attend school or even if you go part time during your college career
.

So the first transfer the player does not have to sit out but thereafter they wold sit out a year and burn eligibility. I doubt you will ever see a kid transfer 2rd time and probably very few a 2nd time.

But if you graduated in say three years, you "could" transfer again and not sit out. So, my understanding is that you could transfer under the new one time rule after say one year and not sit out and if you graduated with eligibilty left you could transfer again and not sit out. Some do graduate in three years.

I'm not aware of a limit. I assume they can transfer as many times as they have eligibility to play. But, you only get the one "not sit out" transfer.

I'm awaiting the next round of chaos that allows them to transfer and play within the same season.

A winter/Spring term entry beating the "trade deadline" in time for the post-season
