Anyone else still baffled about the Harsin hire?

I mean, to me, it was just so out of the blue. A really strange fit to be honest. How long of a leash will Auburn give him?

I think it needs to be re-examined

No. The Auburn AD is stupid.
He went out and got a G5 coach with a high win%. Because he thought it meant they were getting an up and coming coach. But the whole point of getting a G5 coach who does well is to get one who comes to a G5 program and builds it up.
Harsin did no such things. Boise St is among the top tier G5 programs, and he ended up being the worst Boise St Head Coach since 1999 - a team he was the QB for.
It's not even the first time he's followed Gus. When Gus was hired by Auburn, Harsin replaced Gus. And Harsin did worse than Gus.
The simple fact of the matter is the next time Harsin goes to a program and improves it, it will be the first time.
In before Auburn fan claims I must have something against Harsin for telling the truth. Your AD is a dumbass and hired fools gold.

The problem is not a Harsin problem. It's an Auburn problem. It always will be. Auburn is the most overrated job of all P5 schools.

Really? LSU didn't have any issue of hiring the right HC the last 2 before the Kelly hired. There is still a knock on Kelly at LSU.

Meh the team was 8-5 the year before he took over, he proceeded to win more than 8 every year he was there, then he leaves and they immediately go 7-5.
Harsin is the only long tenured coach that had to be in the MWC compared to the others that spent the majority of time in the WAC.
Harsin has a higher win % against the MWC than Petersen did. You would know this if you didn’t ignorantly speak on something you didn’t know, but you did so here we are

Wow, that's a lot of cherry picking.
First of all, the MWC is basically just the WAC. Many people on the west coast call the MWC the "Mountain WAC Conference" because all the good teams from the MWC left for P5 conferences when Boise St came in.
The good teams in the MWC now are former WAC teams. Go look at the conference championship and it's constantly former WAC team vs former WAC team.
Peterson however only coached for 1 year in it. That 8-5 record was a single down year for Boise St. It became a constant under Harsin. His best year was his first year, and then it took him like 6 years to repeat it.
But sure, go ahead and try to sum Petersens career as 1 single year, and then tell me I'm the ignorant one.
The fact of the matter is he was basically given a program that was the G5 equivalent of a blue blood, and proceeded to make them worse. He would have been fired if he wasn't a former QB/alum.
One day you'll realize you basically hired the Boise St Mike Shula.

Depends on his record. If he goes 1-11 next year, he will be out immediately.
If he manages 6-6, 7-5 I can see him getting a few years. If he doesn't improve, he will be gone in year 4.

Harsin doesn't seem to be winning over the state high school coaches. You won't be in the SEC long enough for a ham sandwich without those recruits in the SEC. Harsin just took a 9 win barner team to 6-6. That's not a good look either. That leaves the magic portal. He had better be David Copperfield and quick.

Auburn is the new Tennessee and Tennessee is becoming the old Auburn

Well, he’s definitely lost one: Central-Phenix City

Maybe Bo hit the transfer portal to get away from Dad? Phenix City is really close to Auburn.

What baffles me - being honest, not a troll - is that Harsin actually believes the admin is committed to backing him long enough for these drastic changes to payoff

I actually agree.
Auburn fans like him because he's an emotionless drone that talks about "process" a lot, but he's no Saban. We needed a program builder and we got a guy with no recruiting ties to the southeast who apparently wants to fill his staff with Boise loyalists.
Greene is allegedly on shaky ground with the PTB at Auburn. I doubt this year helped things.

Been waiting on someone to say this. It’s true. AG is the root of the problem.

This is bullshite. If you make it to head coach at Auburn, your family, kids, grandkids etc are taken care of for generations.
It’s also a nice, safe, quiet town, with fan great support.
