That's great in theory but Jimmy ain't going for that. If you made that offer as the AD, he's gone and you should be fired! You have to know your market and competition and decent-good coaches have the upper hand. As the AD you hold no cards only a checkbook

This board is hilarious. A month ago, it was pitchforks and torches on Gus's lawn. Now it's lifetime contracts and trucks filled with $.

wtf is so difficult to understand. Gus did everything he could to address the complaints and the coaching market has been turned on its head. to me whats hilarious is all the crawfishing fans with the "I was wrong" bullshite. no you werent wrong at all, Gus just did EVERYTHING right from that moment in time forward.

You're smarter than this aren't you?

This has nothing to do with what fans did after LSU. Nothing.

A 5 year performance based contract.

I'd think this was a good idea if there were some stabilizing factors

- Salary = Max( Current Yr, Previous 3 Year performance Avg * 90% or so)

Don't want to punish a coach in an uncharacteristic down/reloading year. Coach only truly benefits if he had demonstrated consistent success. This gives stabilization + minimum salary guarantee for the coach.

$450k per 2018 regular season win.

-$300k per non P5 Win
-$550k per P5 OOC Win
-$550k per SEC Win

quote:

Win Iron Bowl +$150k.

Change IronBowl/DSOR performance bonus structure

- IB Bonus: $125k
- DSOR Bonus: $50k
- IB + DSOR Bonus: $100k

Add @LSU Performance Bonus: $250k first W, $25k each addt'l

quote:

Win West +$250k, Win SEC +$1M Win NC +$2M

I'd do

Non NY6/CFP Bowl Appearance - $50k
Win West - $250k
Win SEC - $450k (+SEC win = $1mil total)
NY6 Appearance - $200k (+P5 W = $750k total)
CFP Appearance - $450k (RD1 W = $1mil total)
CFP Champ Appearance- $950k (NC W = $1.5mil)

quote:

Gus would be at

Gus would be at $5.125mil and could get to $8.625mil at by winning it all (Well worth for a NC + $ it brings in)

Next year, his "minimum" salary guarantee would be ~$3.5mil currently and elevated as high as ~$4.5mil if he wins the NC

Buyout

For AU- Minimum Salary Guarantee x 5 Years w/ offset language or 50% that amount no offset paid over 3 years

For Gus- 1 Year Min Salary Guarantee + Cost to buyout all Assistants

It’s all going to come down to “full control” clauses in the contract.

This isn’t about money. He’s already super rich and not a money hungry type guy.

TAMU just gave Jimbo $75 Million for 10 years... DAMN...

With Gus I would go $35 Million for 5 years. PLUS I would get him a new football only building at $100 million...

I'm not sure but I was just illustrating how quickly things change. We can dump a giant buyout and be back to cussing this time next year.

I really hope Gus has long term success at Auburn. But, I'll still smile at the first post that complains about his new contract should he stay.

I get that but one thing some are not understanding is Gus has coached himself into a big payday. One, because of what he accomplished. Two, and most importantly are the conteacts signed by other coaches raising the market value. There is another team that wants him and so he will get paid big.

All that money will come no matter how much fans whined or bitched, or what they post here in this thread about wanting Gus.

Be ready to smile because you can bet someone will cuss him out.
