Because Lane has not proven he can't beat the good teams. That's the entire point. He's had talent and every time he plays the good team, no matter his talent level, assistants, or years there he still shits the bed against quality teams and has a usual "Gus" loss. He's just a good OC and all anyone here sees is his rushing yards. He had to have the ball bounce his way more than anyone this year to not have 6 losses right now and all his fans just say he has his flaws but Auburn will "fix it". No coach that needs as many excuses made for him ever stays long or amount to much. Look at everywhere he's been ran off from and who his best wins are. Just because I, and others, choose not to wear the blinders you do, doesn't make anyone childish. Last time I checked, this site exists to share information and opinions. But apparently, a lot of people here don't want anything outside of groupthink.

Of the points made that I can agree on in regards to Kiffin, I will go with good offensive coach and very good QB developer. Outside of those things, what else is there? His history is very well documented, so it shouldn't be that hard. The "getting to the Sugar Bowl" or last years "Mustard Bowl"? If we are prepared to throw $10 mill/year at a coach, is Kiffin really the best we could do? Let me put it this way. We could get Freeze for a lot less, put the difference in salary into NIL and do no worse than the same results as Kiffin would get. You'd also have a coach who we wouldn't have to wonder if he was about jump ship at the next job vacancy and actually understands the political nature of an SEC HC. If you think we have a booster problem, like many people do, do you think Kiffin is the guy to make that better, or worse? Successful HCs have an ego, but nothing compared to billionaires. He's a 47 y/o man who trolls on social media after getting beatdown by a mediocre team.

The facts are Kiffin may get 10 wins this year, but he got skull drug by Arky and LSU. Auburn scored 34 on Ole Miss with a dysfunctional team and checked out coach. His best win was against a 6-5 team. Ole Miss is 2.5 point favorite against Miss State IN OXFORD! Nobody is trying to hire Leach away from State, but he might just make the Ole Miss fans a little less sad about losing their coach.
