Houston Nutt went to two Cotton Bowls and won both of them.

Hugh Freeze won a Sugar Bowl.

Lane Kiffin won an Outback Bowl against powerhouse Indiana in a hard fought game. He also won the Boca Raton Bowl while at FAU!

I don’t care. He won, he got to the Sugar Bowl, and could’ve won if not for Mr. Corral being hurt.

Stop pretending like we are choosing between offense and 4-8 versus some mediocre offense that wins.

if and buts.....

If his porous defense didn't give up a shite ton of rushing yards, that probably would have given them a W too. See how that works?

We fired Gus, and he had a lot more "ups" than Kiffin ever has.

Who hires coaches for this reason?
Harsin just lowered everyone's standards. They settle for beating 4 loss teams instead of demanding a coach to beat Bama, LSU, and UGA.

Exactly! Gus defense was bad in 2013, and was a disaster in 2014. In 2015, because we are Auburn, Will Muschamp came to town and got some fricking dudes on campus. Shortly after that, because we are Auburn, Steele came to town and turned our dudes into a great defense for a few years.

People that are projecting forward that the same thing could happen with Lane aren’t just making shite up. The beautiful thing about Lane vs Gus though is that Lane has already proven the ability to evolve his offense with the times and based on the talent at hand.

What has he won? Who has he beat? Start with those two questions.

Agreed. Also they want a "splash" hire. They want "tweets". They want 700 yards of offense and moral victories.

I want to end being the doormat for UGA and Bama!

Only one time did Hugh manage a three loss season in the SEC and in that magical season where they beat Bama, they lost to Memphis, Arkansas, and Florida.

I'm surprised some of our fans can even enjoy the things we actually care about the winning and losing of games.

If it's Lane (or any other coach for that matter), assemble a good staff, can get talent on board, develop that talent, have a little luck, have the players prepared to play each game, they will be successful. If it's national championship every other year or bust I think that fan will be sorely disappointed. If it's producing good football players, winning big games, winning a conference championship around every 4-5 years, playing in the expanded playoff at least every 5 years, closing the talent gap between AU and our rivals I think that fan can enjoy whoever the next coach is.

At the end of the day I think by noon Sunday we will 100% know who the next football coach is. There will be tons of smoke this week, Friday will be a boiler, Saturday some will claim they officially know the outcome, but come Sunday all the speculation will be over.

Yeah the Bama win doesn’t do as much for me when you lose to Memphis the same season

Also there should be zero demands on who the next coach retains or doesn't retain. It's his ship to sail.

Kiffin was with the Raiders, UT, and USC. Hmmmm....

I was told that his defense is bad this year, because TAM poached his DC.....yep, the DC that is now over that killer defense that Robbie Ashford beat.

Kiffin has been an HC at a lot of places. Who was the best DC he hired? You sound like the guy who runs out in the rain 9 times, get wet, and thinks the 10th time will be different.

I was at that Bama/OM game. Was a fluke of all flukes. Bama fumbled 2 kick off returns. A pass bounced off a defenders helmet right into a WRs hands for a touchdown. Granted I was happy to witness it. The wife and I left and bama came roaring back to almost win it even with all that had gone bad for them.

Oh, the horrid 13 points they gave up while the whole team has given up.

The horror!

Auburnnyc,

The Lane Kiffin criticisms aren’t adding up with Freeze. I don’t get it. If they were wanting Urban this would all would make a ton more sense. But calling a ten win winner a winner, and another a loser is cherry picking lflaws to yap about.

But one is a winner!!!….that loses to Memphis

Defense gave up 14 points in the Sugar Bowl, and that was more detrimental than losing 384 yards of total offense that Corral averaged.

It all makes sense.
