I am worried today that we are going to end up with Steele. Most beat writers are saying Freeze isn’t possible. Then you have those that are saying Mario is staying with the ducks. Personally, I would like to see Bill Clark or Napier but I’m not feeling confident that will even happen.

Steele has a brother in the Athletic department, if I remember correctly and Steele is working on his state retirement.

Does AU hire him as a coach or try to convince the next hire to keep him on?

State retirement is a myth. His pay would be like 60k a year from the state. His returns on investments will be in the 100s of thousands, if not more if he invested heavily.

Napier would be a solid choice.

JGT (20 hours ago)

Napier 45%
Mario 35%
Freeze 10%
Steele 10%
Neil Brown <1%

My guess now..

Napier 55%
Mario 20%
Steele 20%
The field 5%

Word is Steele has big time support with a few of the money guys. Now, how true that is remains to be seen. But, if true, I'd imagine that gives him a leg up on some of the other candidates.

For the record, I absolutely HATE the idea of us firing Gus to promote Kevin Steele.

Maybe we can also get Gus Malzahn as OC. Heard he's available.

Now this from PAM: Gogue wants a search committee (No dear god). Auburn president Jay Gogue desires to appoint a committee and have a full-blown search. Most years, that would be OK. This isn’t one of those years. Gogue has stuck to his processes. He refused to discuss Gus Malzahn’s future until after the season. And now, with Malzahn fired, he wants a repeat of the process that hired Malzahn in the first place...........

Forget Hugh Freeze. That’s not happening at Auburn or anywhere else in the SEC. Maybe Mario Cristobal could do it and maybe not. Billy Napier? Who knows?

Results matter. And by Wednesday morning, time will be up.

Basically saying we need to lock in Steele to save recruiting on Wednesday.. What a buffoon.

That makes no sense. He wanted to wait until after the season. So who trumpet him? Now he has the power to dictate a committee after being vetoed? I think PAM needs to retire. He hasn't been reliable since Tubs left.

If that happens, this is going to turn into a disaster. Auburn has to have the stupidest leadership in the world. Auburn politics.

You obviously haven’t watched a bill Clark offense at UAB if you want him

I don't disagree with a committee, but the committee should've convened after the South Carolina game and got all this shite taken care of. If they really have fired Gus without having some idea of who they are going after, they are the dumbest, most ineffectual P5 university group in the nation.
