Every team we've played has rammed their Tight End up our arse, we don't we have/use one?

Maybe that's why we can't cover them....never seen one before

We don't have one worth a shite. I really wish we would find one and at least run one tight end and 2 receiver sets. It would help create some mismatches with linebackers.

We threw to our Hback twice today for 1/2. The other was a drop for a possible TD.

We seriously need to move JJ to TE. He's a prototypical TE prospect both physically and athletically. He was a very good basketball player in HS and played PF. The skills needed to play 4 in basketball translate very well to TE. Two of the best TE's in modern NFL history made that transition.

Who is our back up qb then?

But not mentally.

How so? He doesn't shy away from contact when he runs. He looks good and even aggressive blocking when he's out wide in the wildcat, and even when he's been at QB and hands the ball off I see him try to go downfield and make blocks.

He's lost his confidence throwing, but he's not a pussy and doesn't seem like a "me first" guy. TE requires a lot less thinking than QB

We have Chris Laye and Jalen Harris. I guess they must really suck to get beat out by air

Harris is a true freshman from a tiny private school. Laye is a redshirt freshman and everybody knows he isn't gonna end up a star. Nobody should have expected much out of that position this year.

Maybe we can buy one from Arkansas. They've got like 10 tight ends and they're all good.

I think that's why we are recruiting JUCO QBs right now. I don't think it's for a starter, White is out guy. But if he goes down there's nobody. JJ is mentally a goner as far as QB goes. Queen and Barrett will be both be freshmen and are both projects anyway.

He doesn't like contact. How is that gonna work out? You gonna ask him to catch a pass across the middle? You think JJ is gonna lay a crushing block on a lb?

Where the hell do you get that from? JJ lowers the shoulder when he runs and throws blocks for his RBs. He just can't throw it to the right person

Let me think about this. ...

Here goes. First, when he was actually playing it was rare that he would keep the ball on zone read plays. Even when he had space to run he would leave it with the back. Today on his td keeper, he tip toed in the backfield before finally surging ahead. How many times did he roll out of a solid pocket earlier in the season instead of stepping up and making the throw. He doesn't like getting hit.

Was Lutz a true TE or more of an H back?

I have a tight end every time I watch one of Auburn's games or no fingernails by the end of the game.

A lot of how you play is determined by the mindset the coaches want you in.

When I played in HS we had a QB who slid and avoided contact at all costs. He got beat out midseason and put at WR and became the toughest SOB on the team. Was afraid of taking a hit on his arm when QB but when that was gone he showed his true grit. Kid played FCS ball and was pretty good there too

I saw that Darrion Hutchinson scored a TD for Mississippi State last night. He used to be a tight end for Auburn.
