I think Jon is a quality kid. I love his tenacity and fire. I don't think he has top talent and will end up going the Kodi Burns path.

I think Nick Marshall is going to start and he was brought in to do so. That has been the talk since they recruited him and I have heard from some people (not players but staff) that that is the expectation. Marshall was brought in to be the guy but competition will determine who it is. People need to stop trashing Jonathan Wallace though. A guy who played against UGA and UA as a true freshman behind a terrible OLine, with a team that had already quit, zero top talent catching his passes (Blake is average by SEC standards and everyone else blew) and with an incompetent coaching staff. He was not impressive but few would be in that situation and while he isn't the next Cam talent wise, people should not overlook his ability
Can you name the 3? Jonathan Wallace was averaging 5+ yds/carry running the read offense behind our disaster of an OLine and the defense knowing that he wasn't going to throw a single pass
Nick Marshall <-- Understandable due to success in JUCO
Jeremy Johnson? Hasn't seen a single SEC down and will be a wildcard as a runner
If you say Mocha Cam you are crazy
In terms of passing ability
Nick Marshall -> 0 SEC passes thrown 20 picks in JUCO
Jeremy Johnson -> 0 College passes thrown
Kiehl Frazier -> INT to Pass Completions ratio may be over 1 at this point in time
Wallace did not have the arm strength but it is very much possible that this was due to lack of a deep passing game in high school and he never had to develop that arm strength. He is a solid athlete with a decent frame and there is zero reason he won't develop at least an average deep ball better than Chris Todd
Also, ran into JWall while buying books back in February. He was looking big. When he was a group I was with at dinner first semester he was skinny. He put on a good amount of muscle since the season ended. He was standing next to my 6'4 friend and he looked taller (JWall was wearing boots though) and he was stacked. I'd expect him to measure out to 6'2/6'3 220 pounds

So expressing ones opinion of Jon Wallace is considered trashing now? He has ability and he has heart. Doesn't mean that he has it in spades to be a top QB. This is my opinion and in no way bashed Wallace.
I might have overlooked some others who may have actually bashed him, but most of the posts I have read don't look to be bashing Wallace. Even with some of the shortcomings of the OL and the competition. There was plenty to see to help me form my opinion. I would have no problem if he were to prove me wrong. I don't wish for failure from our players so that I look smart.

Marshall, and Jason Smith are much better runners if thats the route Gus wants to go. If Gus feels everyone is ab equal as far as passing goes he'll probably choose the most dynamic play maker and Wallace is ab 3rd down on that list.

You are right that people aren't "trashing him" but I feel like there is a gap between his talent/ability and the credit people are giving him. He may never start but he would not be a bad option to have starting if it came down to it

Your knighting for Wallace is like me knighting for Clint

Wallace showed more leadership ability than either Mocha or Crybaby last year. He never seemed rattled that I can remember. I would like to see him win the job if his physical tools are up to the task.

Once spring practice is over we should have a good idea. I am a firm believer that he didn't have background to be a top thrower out of high school but has the raw physical gifts to be reasonable. I see him being a knockoff of Geno Smith. Not a blazer speed wise but quick and shifty and can be a serious threat in read option, good head on his shoulders, developing arm strength but not elite
If Nick Marshall can correct his vision so he doesn't mistake the opposing team for his WRs like he did in JUCO he has the ability too. Going to be interesting to see how it unfolds.

Not necessarily spring practice related, but...
@JHokanson
Carl Lawson squats 550 lbs. at the GA weightlifting champ. (via @TreyJ_25). He benched 405, won the state title.

The last guy we signed a guy that had me as excited as CL he took us to a NC and won the Heisman.

Really? So practioing with the starting WRS makes not difference. Timing is not an issue in football or Gus' passing game?
I remember well the reports of Frazier's awesomeness from Spring to August last year.
All the work he got in with the WR and the perfected timing.
Yeah...

I agree. My roommate (lembke) couldn't speak better of him after spring practice. It's so hard to tell how a QB will do unless he really shines.

To be fair, if he was throwing against our defense he probably did look good. They made every QB we faced look like a Heisman contender.
