That's pretty cool. I wonder if his janitorial humility act is for real or if he is a dick in real life.

He has the perfect build. Looks like nobody under clothes. Once the shirt come off his muscles pop.

I taught my son who started lifting this year that the 1-2 1/2 lbs. weights are your friends. Most kids try to jump up too much at once, fall, get discouraged and hardly progress.

How old is your new lifter and what’s his priority in lifting?

Just turned 15. He started lifting seriously at the beginning of this year. He has gone from 155 lbs. to 187 lbs. body weight and setting new PRs on the regular (those new lifter gains…I’m jealous). He’s a lefty pitcher/outfielder baseball player, so his goal is to be throwing in the low 90s by his sophomore season (he’s in the 82-84 range currently) and turning those doubles and triples into home runs.

No better exercise for baseball players than dead lifts. 2nd I would stress bend over barbell rows. 3rd squat.

Then obviously his band work on his shoulders. And of course get with a speed and agility coach. Lots of good pitchers get over looked later on because of lack of athleticism.

Miss State is going back to the DC (Arnett) they fired as HC after Leach (RIP). Will need to see how he was regarded before he became Miss State's DC.

Auburn/Freeze was reportedly trying to hire Arnett as DC, but then he got the HC job. Then freeze got Ron Roberts.

Thanks. It’s amazing that most of his peers that are strictly baseball players think there’s no need to take weightlifting seriously.

Yes, I told him that he can lose mobility and athleticism packing on too much muscle too quickly. He did run a 6.7 60 yard dash at his fall team tryouts though, so he’s pretty fast.

I think I know a thing or 2 about training young lifters. 18 years old started lifted at 16. This is my youngest son

Those are all good numbers. Especially for a 15 year old. The 84mph to 90 will be tough in one off season. I’d set a more realistic at 86-87. That way by his junior year maybe he can be tickling 90 consistently.

Agree, jumps in the 80 mph range are gradual. Work on flexibility too. A lot of great people to follow on twitter like tx baseball ranch - coach ron, Randy Sullivan and Ben Brewster

Martin coached under Gus at UCF, but hopefully he is smart enough to choose to take the job with a new coach in year 1 at Auburn versus going to FSU where Norvell is probably not going to last past next season.

In reality, it sounds a lot like he had a ton of shite going on outside of football that bled over and caused a lot of issues in the football world. I would also find it hard to believe that Hutzler was asking Anderson to do something that both Golding and Saban didn't instruct him to do.

They asked Anderson to do a lot more in their defense that year than just be a pass rusher. He played coverage a lot more (now with his talent, definitely worth questioning everyone involved as to why you'd do that, similar to Perkins at LSU). Hard to say what all truly happened, but I also think it is silly to think that the OLB coach was the sole responsible party for Anderson having to play a wider role on defense than lining up outside and rushing the QB with your hair on fire every play.
