When Thorne was running and frantically pointing at the DB for coleman to block him, stand in the way, spit on him....do something and then had to just lower his head while coleman jumped back.

The announcer said maybe he was afraid he would block him in the back....well at that point yes because Thorne had given up on coleman actually attempting to do anything and cut inside instead of out.

coleman wont even attempt to block, runs lazy routes, has hands like Roberto Duran.....and for the life of him cant figure out its gonna be a back shoulder throw when the safety is closing on him. I thought he would at least figure out the latter this week but he did the same thing again.

The most embarrassing thing....he will actually cash an nil check this week for that performance....or lack there of.

Now we are starting to get down to the crux of things.

Recruit all the talent you want. If the fricking coach cant coach them, its a useless venture.

It was a shitty attempt if you even want to call it that. Had he blocked Thorne gets a bunch of yards

Freshman mistake.

Also he knew he screwed up when the tackle happened, you can see his reaction to it.

DeVonta Smith has the Heisman in the bag, and has had the game of a lifetime. Its over at that point, late in the 3rd quarter. Long pass to Mecham and some gazelle comes flying into the screen 30 yards downfield and throws a block on the safety.....DeVonta.

Thats not skill, thats just hustle.

Saw this & thought WTF

Honestly think it was a mistake, 0 situational awareness. You can tell by his reaction post play he realizes he messed up. I think he was just clueless in the moment, or wishful thinking that at least..

It was a mistake and IMO it is due to a lack of player leaders. Cam is extremely talented but hasn’t learned how you have to play every down hard

Does it say anything that blocking downfield is something that you have to be taught or be "led" to do by teammates?

I'm not ready to hang cam out to dry quite yet. This wasn't a designed run or anything, right? Passing play broke down and Thorne scrambled, Cam was on a route. Ideally, yes he sees Thorne and lays the wood. But a little nuance to the situation.
