Media is fixated on Sumrall.

From ALcom to Mcleroy to bama fans and so on the message has always been

dont be stupid Auburn; go get him

As if they give a frick about our wellbeing

I’d rather take a chance with Chesney if all has broken down in this “search”

He might need a season like Lanning at Oregon to adjust but I think he would be a good choice.

Golesh has SEC OC experience at Tennessee. Rebuilt a morning USF program. Much more accomplished than Sumrall. Been hoping for Golesh since the beginning of this search.

If Sumrall isn't an option, I'd rather hire a top P4 coordinator. Yes Golesh was a coordinator at UT, but did he really run that offense?

Rebuilt??? Dude didn’t even win the conference. 7-6 material. Two seasons at UT learning from big Josh, I’m sure he did a lot of playcalling… cmon.

We gotta aim higher than this big guy.

Eventually I’m going to convince enough of you to hop on the Jeff Traylor bandwagon.

Would be more than acceptable.

A cursory review of background:

Mentor at Illinois was a GA under Dye for the two most successful years of the program - 88 and 89.

3 years under Matt Campbell

Formed and hardened in Russia and Ohio.

USF was a 2 win team before Golesh. Yet you think a coach is better because his wife has AU connections. LOL

Schumann has UGA's defense playing lights out. He's also been learning how to run a program from the best coach in the game. I heard his name mentioned early on but maybe he should still be a candidate.

I see Cohen is back in the thread feverishly downvoting.

We’re screwed. I’m so disappointed man. This is a repeat of 3 seasons ago.

Of course the media doesn’t give 2 shits about Auburn. But what’s up with Ole Miss’ reported interest and Florida’s open interest in Sumrall? Yes, everyone can be wrong on him. But it’s not like the media is trying to dupe Auburn into hiring a coach nobody else has any interest in.

That said, it looks like we missed on Sumrall (for better or worse), so we better come up with another viable candidate who isn’t our own DC fast.

Wouldn’t mind Golesh. He fits into the same category as all the other realistic candidates we’ve heard.

It’s not about Sumrall. It’s about losing our top candidate to a school I consider a lateral move, and about our AD botching this AGAIN. It’s just disappointing and sad and disheartening after going through 6+ years of hopeless, meaningless football

God damn Auburn is a loser school. Fighting over G5 coaches instead of getting in the mix on big names.

Why spend (and potentially) win big when you can bring another g5 loser in and pay him 25 million to go away in three years?
