What gave that assumption? The constant insider chatter from fall practice about the race being between Marshall and Johnson?

Wallace was the "backup" on paper only. A nice gesture for a hard working good guy.

He was the backup only if Marshall went through the year unscathed. With Marshall's injury situation in doubt, Wallace is third string.

This is nothing new. It was said before the season ever started that if something happened to Marshall then Johnson would be the one to take over.

This tells me you are still quite young in understanding football. Sit back and learn for a while bruh...

Wallace knew where he stood on the depth chart. He knows he's lucky to have an SEC scholarship and he's going to take advantage of it and get a good education and play backup QB for Auburn. That's way, way more than anyone else on this message board can say. The kid's a team player and has a good attitude about it.

Depth Chart going forward from what Gus has said and obvious moves made

1- Marshall
2- JJ
3- Wallace

Wallace will never be our starter going forward unless some very unfortunate events occur. He just clearly not at the talent level of either Marshall or Jeremy Johnson and does not put us in position to win games like they do.

He is a very smart player and puts the work in so I hope (and expect from what I am told) that he sticks around as he is a good role model and teammate and consistently works with others to help them understand the offense. Even if he never sees the field he can help in other ways

However was today worth burning Johnson's redshirt?

It wasn't about today. It was about our starter having a gimp knee and the meat of our schedule left to play. I honestly don't see how this is so hard to understand.

You just happened to be the last post and that's why you were the one that was "responded" to.
