This thing can be in your system for 14 days before you show symptoms. In that time, you can think you're fine and spread it to others, who can spread it to their immunocompromised loved ones. It's better for everyone to do what we are doing with social distancing.

Get over it.

Today, if carriers are carrying for 14 days without symptoms more than likely the carriers are not going to concerts, movie theaters, and the bars. More than likely they are continuing to go to work while being more cautious with personal hygiene and distancing in grocery store/ pharmacy environments.

Asymptomatic carriers are going to pass the virus around unless they force themselves into existing in a bubble despite not experiencing symptoms. Why anybody would volunteer to be isolated despite not experiencing symptoms is one concept that is running past me. Do these heros not have obligations at all? And why in the hell is 85 year old granny still at the cash register counting coins from her coin purse?

A lot of the bullshite that y’all say are idealistic, not realistic.

As for social distancing, I’m an introvert. I dig that shite.

We as a society just have to take it on the chin for the next 2-3 weeks. We will know more about all of this by then and can re-evaluate but hard to criticize what we are doing right now around the country after seeing what has happened around the world.

I’m a very extraverted person IRL but I bow to my introverted brethren because now it’s their time to rule the world.

Taking the family to Disneyland next week. I heard the spacing between people right now is fantastic there.

I told my kids we may not be able to enter the park and ride but we will be first in line if they choose to open soon.

How far off are we from the gov't closing roads and instituting curfews? Seems like the next logical measure in this illogical plan.

I disagree with most in here. I feel the reaction is over blown. IMO, the virus has been here for a few months and is nothing we dont experience on a yearly bases. There is no actual data that states this is a real concern for people under 80, as with most viral infections we see annually. The H1N1 was more of an issue because it rekt younger people.

Boooo!!!

This board is only for people that want the country to shut down permanently and for nobody to ever get sick or die again.

Most may end up living on the streets and eating out of dumpsters because of it, but by God they won't have the dreaded coronavirus.

As usual, I believe you are being a little over dramatic. I know you are a troll but there are people out there that believe what you say.

I am a small business owner that will be greatly impacted by this. I promise you, I do not want anything to close or shut down. But I also have a wife who works at a large hospital and I believe this is more than you are making it out to be.

I dont think the virus itself is the issue but the spreading and impact to the medical facilities that could impact us all in an emergency.

I get overreacting is a human response to stay alive. It was hammered in us since we lived in a cave. But this is no where near as deadly as the flu has been this year. It certainly isnt worth shutting down society. If people are actually concerned about 60 plus people, what about their investment's? This will impact how people pay their bills

The death rate with this virus is 9%. That is quite a bit of a difference.

ETA we are less than three months into this thing too.

Those are just confirmed cases. It is more widespread. And my point still stands. I am not saying high risk persons shouldnt take precautions. I am saying shutting down society is too far, and will hurt more people financially. That will have huge ripple effects for everyone.

This thing is going to hurt us financially no matter what. It already has and it will get worse.

There is no way for at risk people to isolate themselves with the rest of society going on with their daily lives unaffected. It just doesn't work that way. There is no level of age group who is immune to catching this virus. It is spreading quickly and it doesn't discriminate.

ETA every one of us has been affected by cancer in one way or another. If we don't get this virus under control, the same thing will be said about coronavirus.

This is kind of my feelings as well. I think it’s been here since around thanksgiving, but it hadn't been identified.

Hell, some of us may have had it already but treated it as cold or flu.

My fear is the precedent that this is setting for future viruses. Will we shut the country down annually now if this is deemed a "success"?

The hysteria this is creating will be the worst thing for hospitals. Unless you are on the verge of death or have underlying medical issues, you have no business going to a hospital with this. Stay home, drink fluids, take Tylenol, get better.

The toothpaste is out of the tube now...

So you’re saying the healthy majority should quarantine themselves to their homes so that the vulnerable can go about their daily lives?

Actually, you can take the real, observed data that is literally staring us in the face from other countries. The biggest threat this unique virus has always posed was to our healthcare system. It completely overwhelmed other nations and we are hoping it doesn't do the same to us.

This isn't "just any other virus."
