Was promoting McGlynn something Cohen wanted to do?

Just saw a tweet that it was his first action as AD to make Rich 2nd in command.

Is this something he actually wanted to do? Or was this something to appease those against hiring him?

I could see the new guy come in and go "you seem to know your shite and what goes on here. You're my #2".

Even to restaurants. That’s how I got my gig as the #2 of my store after the GM was fired.

It was a smart move if it was his choice, or one he will grow to appreciate if he was talked into the hire. McGlynn should be on everyone’s list of most respected person at Auburn over the last 15 years or so. Dude is a bad arse.

Seems like a great way to empower and motivate someone who's already in place and who you want to buy in.

Yes and yes. Plus it is smart.

Time will tell if he wanted to or not. We know that Bruce loves Mcglynn and we know a lot of people were worried that McGlynn might move on if he didn’t get a fair shot at AD. As Bruce put it - kinda seems like the best of both worlds?

That's why I was so surprised some of our posters expressed some acrimony yesterday.

McGlynn has steered us through trouble waters with the NCAA on multiple occasions over the last decade and a half, and absolutely nailed it.

edit: correction, it was over at the Fambly

I'd be immediately against Cohen if he did anything other than do whatever it took to keep him at AU.

Cohen and McGlynn probably know and are familiar with each other as well.

Yeah, it's not like there's a huge number of ADs, Asst ADs, and Assoc ADs wandering around the SEC. It's a pretty small club and it's likely one where they already have familiarity with one another.
