He was a Sophomore with FR eligibility status. This was his second year in the offense.

More importantly though, Ricardo Louis was the 2nd highest drafted WR from Auburn since 2000. By that standard, Sean White had the best help of any QB not Nick Marshall since 2000

IF only he could have caught the passes when it mattered.

Look White was not the problem last year. Until he got hurt, he was playing pretty well. Our WR woes were terrible, we had someone who should have been first round talent completely shite the bed off field and tank it on the field. We could not settle on a primary running back.
The defense could not get pressure on anyone. Teams ran at will on us.

White will look a ton better if, A) they can block for him B) the WR can catch balls consistently C) our running game keeps the other team on its heels

If those things don't happen I doubt any qb will be better. We might lose by 10 instead of 21 but that is not what I would consider comforting.

I have optimism that the defense might be better this year. If we can take some of the pressure off of the offense, White might be enough, provided our tackles do not let him get broken like a twig.

Considering how Ricardo Louis bailed Sean White at least twice on that Arkansas drive that people attribute to White, ya I think it is unfair to say White got "no help"

You mean like when Sean White threw behind him when he was on a wide open slant and he bailed SW out on a game tying drive? LINK

or when Sean White overthrew him wide open on the sidelines and he made a spectacular catch to bail White out on the same game tying drive? LINK

So basically your saying if we make him a game manager, and everyone else takes the load off his shoulders, he will look better?

That really makes me optimistic about his potential.

If we have a 2013 type OL, JRob living up to potential at RB, Kerryon continue to improve as dynamic RB, KD/NCM/Others look good at WR Then I believe Sean White can be a good enough game manager to be competitive if we have a great defense

I think we need more than a game manager to win >=8 games this year though. There is nothing Sean White has done that suggests he will be more than a game manager consistently for Auburn in Gus' offense

We had a bad drop problem last year and Louis had his fair share of them. And try as you might White was a freshman last year. Not seeing a snap from the field makes you a freshman. Let's not act like the guy is Brandon Harris here.

A Redshirt Freshman. I agree, that isn't quite the same as being a SO with game experience. Let's also remember that White was practicing against D1 players for over a year though.

I can understand (not completely agree with) the argument that White has a ceiling that is around Aaron Murray which is great for the SEC. Fair enough. To go around saying that Sean White was some great QB last year, has demonstrated he was great etc just doesn't line up with reality, regardless of drops.

Sean White will never sniff Aaron Murray's numbers.

His ceiling is Brandon Cox

I don't think SW will ever get us to Atlanta. With that said, if he is the guy, I wish Gus would name him starter now so we can all come to terms with 8 wins max this year.

Not Murray's career numbers but I do think he can have as good a single season as Murray did. And we will have to disagree on the ludicrous Brandon Cox comment.

His best case reasonable projection based on past production is Brandon Cox. There is nothing he has done to suggest he will be significantly better than Brandon Cox was at Auburn.

When I say ceiling, I mean he maximizes athletic ability, FB IQ and has the team around him. I can see an argument where he could be ballpark Aaron Murray. I'm just saying that nothing he has done suggests he will get there

Three straight games of 250+ yards from a RS Freshman against SEC competition isn't "even close to above average"? ok

Brandon Cox was a damn good QB. Glad you finally agree with me.

You're telling me you'd take Ricardo Louis as a primary target over somebody like Darvin Adams, Terrell Zachery, Emory Blake, Rod Smith, or Courtney Taylor?

I live how people think throwing games for 250 yards against the worst pass defenses in the country is a huge accomplishment.

Sean White didn't even get to the average pass yards allowed by Ole Miss /Arkansas

I also said best case projection is he is Brando Cox level. I doubt he is that good, our defense plus offensive line isn't good enough to let him be a game manager like Cox

Ricardo shite the bed the entire fricking Arky game except on one drive. I'm not sure how many drops we had in that game, but it was cringe worthy.

If he would've helped earlier in the game then Sean wouldn't have had to bail him out with a clutch drive
