so you are cool with Auburn having a starting line up that is 95% black but don't like them recognizing diversity issues and coming together? Got it...

Correct.

Best I recall Auburn was already "together" and did not have many "diversity issues" that I can recall.

It's pandering. Otherwise this stuff would have been on the field 10 years ago.

I mean, the football community recognizes all sorts of person(s) and groups. From cancer survivors to war vets. I don't see having a general call for peace as an issue.

It’s honestly one of the better things to come of all this bullshite.

Launched by Auburn Athletics

quote:

Every family is made up of people with individual thoughts and at times family members disagree. Families also love and support each other despite those disagreements. Through sport, there is an opportunity to acknowledge differing points of view and unite for a greater purpose," director of athletics Allen Greene said. "The Auburn Unity Symbol represents the oneness we seek to instill in our teams and throughout our community. I applaud the leadership of our coaches, staff and student-athletes for their efforts. Lastly, I encourage the Auburn Family to embrace what makes us unique and enthusiastically support Together We Will."

It’s a pretty even message that highlights and embraces our differences in support of one another. Really hope people actually look into it instead of applying their own bullshite to it.

I have no problem with this. If it was the BLM/Marxist/black panther raised black fist I would have a huge problem.

As I’ve said football and sports in general mean a lot to me. I’ve spent 42 years of my life playing or coaching. But if they start this SJW crap at AU then I will cut it off until this has passed. I haven’t watched NFL, NBA, or MLB since they started back up. Somethings are greater then sports.

Y’all don’t hate on Corch. He’s pointing out something important here. Auburn athletics was actually proactive here and created their own branding and message so that outside influences won’t muddy the waters. It keeps the message contained to what the actual athletes, coaches, and alumni think is important.

Let’s help keep it that way by not attaching our own personal crap to it. Because, honestly, it’s a pretty great idea all around.

And you would not shut up about not watching either.

Clayton Bigsby would be mortified if he could see this.

You have no clue what I would do or wouldn’t do. Haven’t bitched one time about any of those organizations just haven’t watched. But this is an Auburn message board isn’t it? We are supposed to discuss our opinions, correct?

Jones is correct I support unity. I support any group of people coming together but anything that wants to overthrow the government or create chaos and division... I’ll let someone much more eloquent then I tell you how I feel about it

I have no problem coming together and treating each individual with common respect and decency. That is a given. This entire "program" started by Auburn is pandering with no real clear end game.

Good thing I've looked into it.

I'd love to see Auburn coaches and players come out and correct all the false narratives and acknowledge that no, there is no epidemic of white cops killing black people for sport.

But in lieu of that, a fairly wholesome and agreeable unity theme without the baggage of the existing ones dominating the public discourse is about as good as we could hope for.

I definitely agree with this and look at it as a positive.

However, on the other side, I just wish we can keep race issues/topics out of sports and just play the game. I have always viewed as a way to remove yourself from the other bullshite in the outside world. Why can't we just enjoy the game without having to remind folks about racism and diversity or using it as a platform to push an agenda? We know there are issues as with any country but can't we have just one nice thing without worrying about this stuff?

Those are just my thoughts. Again, no issues with positive message we(Auburn) are wanting to send. Those additional comments are just in general and going forward.

Its a good gesture from auburn athletics is what it is, in our climate it feels good to know auburn is doing all it can to at least make sure our student athletes of color feel comfortable.

Auburn family may be together, but our country isn't. this is bigger than the Auburn family, and Im sure this will if anything bring our auburn family even closer.

I don't know about the handshake symbol (it's fine; don't care). But the stadium looks WAY more comfortable with social distancing. I might actually be able to get up and go take a piss without falling on someone.

I guess that's where I am mainly. You described it better than my attempts

I just think we’re past that point. And since we are, I’d rather it be Auburn’s message and symbol

That’s my only take here

And that seems what Auburn has done with this logo and this message. It is there own, if that is what you are saying too.

I'm just glad they didnt decide to mimic the other messages like put black lives matter in bold letters on the field. That would have been following their message, not Auburn's.

I think most big time schools are doing things like this...
