Interesting if you think about it because according to opposing fan logic since MSU offered Cam money, Auburn actually paid the money. Hmmmmm
I grew up in Columbus GA.
The influx of UGA players to Columbus every summer back in the day for summer "jobs" at Georgia Crown (owned by Don Leebern, a long-time UGA trustee) was an amazing sight to see.
And, amazingly enough, those players always seemed to leave Columbus for school next fall driving a brand new Camaro or Firebird from good ol' Bill Heard Chevrolet/Pontiac.
UGA fans and their pride in their oh-so high standards is amusing to me.

Exactly, the only reason that image is anywhere near Athens is because of Richt, and him alone. Sadly, he must have NO influence on the players.
He couldn't stop it anyway, he is too "hands off". As I have tried to explain to the UGA guys, they are likely to have a situation similar to what we had with Chiz/Gus in Richt/Pruitt. If they have success, Pruitt will be credited. Thus giving him his pick of HC gigs, including many from UGA who will want to swap out Pruitt for Richt. Either way, the staff continuity won't be there for 4 years. This is why they are losing the Trent Thompson battle. Or at least are in a dead heat for him.

Dude, Richt is no damn saint. He's a Diddy Bowden disciple.
Proclaim you're a "Christian" on billboards and on TV across the country and then behind the scenes have as dirty a team as it comes. The joke that Richt has "lost control" is just that... a joke. Richt has the team that he coaches it to be. The only difference between his teams and the ol' Diddy Bowden teams are the championships and that's only because Diddy was too scared to bring his team to the SEC.

wdeWDE says Matthews isn't coming to AU. This is what he has been told anyway.

I suspect he doesn't want to meet the "walk-on for the first year" requirement then.

As are Keith/Kipp Adams. Which has me perplexed to say the least. I have been having fun with the UGA guys lately with this and Trent.

Don't really care if he comes or not. I have had my fun with it.

Agree, the UGA melt the first day Tray tweeted AU or Louisville was comedy gold all on its own.

Diddy played up the wholesome good ol' boy image, but he discovered that wasn't good enough to beat Miami. Started using the same tactics, on field as well as off, and it finally won him some hardware. But he still did his damndest to maintain the illusion that he only recruited 'good boys'.
Richt is trying to pull off the same thing at UGa, but no one outside of DawgNation is buying it.

I understand, thus the word image. It is an image he has created. One that he now uses to sell to parents as to how he will keep their kid from the "Sodom & Gomorrah" that is Athens.

247Sports has learned that a final decision on the transfer of former Georgia safety Tray Matthews should be announced this week. Matthews, who made 36 tackles, 23 solo, 1.5 tackles for loss, an interception, broke up four passes and forced one fumble in 2013 as a true freshman, was dismissed last week. He announced intentions to transfer to Louisville or Auburn shortly before Mark Richt announced his departure from the team. Matthews visited Auburn over the weekend.
Look for an announcement in the next 24 hours. Matthews will sit out the 2014 season and should have three years to play three.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Matthews was the No. 8 prospect in Georgia, No. 8 safety in the country, and No. 79 prospect in the 2013 class. He was the highest rated signee for Georgia that year, and would be the fourth-highest in Auburn's class for the 2013 recruiting cycle.

If he is, he must be adamant if he's willing to pay for the next year at out of state tuition prices.
