I choose to believe common sense. Who the hell is paying Castellanos $1 million? And WHY? He has no leverage. He was bad, got benched, and his former HC is openly roasting him in the press. Castellanos is also a suboptimal prototype at QB: he is only valuable to teams that want to do a lot of running with the QB, and even then he is tiny (and therefore an injury risk).

If you think that Castellanos is getting $1M+, what do you think that guys like the WSU QB (Mateer) are going to get? $5M? Surely you understand that there are quite a few QB's who are better than Castellanos, right?

By the way, BC finished their season 3-1 with the backup QB. Their only loss in that stretch was to SMU. The backup was 4-1 in the 5 games that he played in. Castellanos was 3-4. That doesn't really paint a rosy picture for anyone looking at Castellanos.

What you are pitching is a story as old as time itself. "The New York Yankees are scouting my cousin Timmy Johnson! They're promising to take him in the 1st round, and they're giving him $10 million to sign!". Meanwhile Timmy Johnson is 5'7 and isn't even one of the 3 best players on the team.

Use some common sense. There are probably less than ~two dozen or so teams that have $1 million to throw at ONE player (if that). Of those teams, how many need a QB? And now go even further: of the ones who need a QB, why the hell would they give $1 million to the 5'8 QB that got benched at Boston College....when they can take that money and get someone clearly better?

Most guys in the portal are going to have some warts...if things were great at their current school, they wouldn't be leaving. For every Bo Nix, Jarret Stidham, and Cam Ward in the portal, there are probably ten Payton Thornes and T. J. Finleys. Doesn't mean we can't find a fit, but diamonds in the rough are rare by definition.
