Rough week for OP, same dude who claimed Texas A&M was as good as UGA after last week.

Oh, and Auburn is crazy for not hiring Lane Train after last season.

If they were remotely healthy they would be in the top 5 right now with their only loss being against Alabama, and he's doing that at Ole Miss.

Lane isn't Saban but he's a hell of a lot better than what we have and our program would at least be exciting.

Neither will Harsin.

He didn't know what to fix after A&M? He hasn't done shite to fix recruiting. He sucks, Auburn could have done much better.

Not with Mason as DC. That guy is a joke. When he trotted out a girl soccer player last year for a kickoff, it was obvious he wasn't serious about winning and more concerned about being "woke" and playing the "PC" game instead of football. That should've been a massive red flag. One year later, our defense is the laughing stock of the SEC. Gave up 40 straight points after sitting on a 25 point lead. I cannot think of a worse DC since 2010. I'd have any of them over Mason right now. Why Harsin didn't retain Steele is baffling, considering his hiring of Mason. Steele is a much better coach AND recruiter!

C'mon man! Hire Steele?

With how polarizing Steele was during the HC search, that option would have never occurred. And I don't think Steele wanted to stay with a coach he had no clue who he was.

I still am not sure about Mason. I think his type of D just has showed at least in this type of game that he doesnt' have the right players to fit how he wants to play.

He made it work up to this point. We had a very good RZ defense, which is where it counts.

And our offense was so up and down that if not for the D, like in the TaM game, we never had a chance. His D kept us in thegame up until the fumble, scoop and score.

So, I just think it's too early to dump on his D right now, with having to bring transfers in just to man his DL, and he's had out 2 of his edge players with TD and Heights bc of different problems.

Maybe you just don't like his style, and that is part of your reasoning.

I'm no expert in xs and os but we need better skill players on D to play better.

A good coach recognizes his teams weaknesses and plans around them. How many games in do you need to see that opposing QBs have way too much time in the pocket with a 3 man rush? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to deduce that you need to bring, at least another guy on obvious passing downs. Instead, we rush the same 3 down lineman, every play, regardless of down and distance.

I agree that we don't have the same talent as we are used to, but Mason never has been known as a recruiter. In fact, he's known as a failed Vandy coach who demoralizes his team buy putting pads on a girl a letting her kick a 20 yard KO while getting their arse handed to them. Hell, if Harsin had kept TWill an installed him as DC, we'd be better off defensively! Both coaching and recruiting!

Bookmark this, and get your excuses ready. If Mason is our DC next season, expect a lot more of what you've seen this year.

Just like Mullen and Grantham, this is just passing the buck and picking the low hanging fruit. The rot is much, much deeper than a single coordinator position.

Perhaps so, but you can't deny the obvious. Harsin isn't calling defensive fronts, stunts, and schemes. That's all on Mason. The defense has had glaring holes all season. Guys out of place, receivers running around uncovered, gashed on multiple runs by GA State. That's all coaching.

The Pirate and his team of poors outcoached and outplayed Auburn.

What I wonder is what was our message to our team when we were up 28-10.

I already know what the pirate’s message was at that time: “stop fricking up, we can beat these guys.”

I'm guessing "We got this game in the bag. Let's play prevent until they take the lead." Only logical explanation considering what my eyes showed me yesterday.
