The White-Out stage was too big for only one crew

The officiating crew.

There were 6-8 blown calls that could have changed the course of the game for both sides? With a game that close, they were really really sloppy.

They took a down from PSU, wrongfully ejected one of our guys, missed tons of holding, called PI when it shouldn't have been and missed it when it should have been. They also missed a safety. What am I forgetting?

I don’t think they called a holding call on the OL on either side. I imagine there were many opportunities to do so for both squads so really cannot complain there. My biggest problem is how subjective these penalties are. Another crew might call 10 holding penalties, overlook the Auburn Nehemiah Pritchett PI, and then call PI on the defense on 4th and 2. Obviously that would’ve helped us there but there is still no rhyme or reason for any of the penalties if not fairly enforced.

If you are blaming the refs, usually means you got your arse kicked.

Even though we benefitted from a couple of those calls, the crew was absolutely atrocious all night. Both ways.

I'm not sure what the answer is, but the SEC has to do something about how bad the officiating has been the last few years. It's inexcusable that these guys are as bad as they are at their jobs. Implementing replay was supposed to help them out, but even replay has been inconsistent at best and just flat wrong at worst. There's no reason at all Zakoby should have been tossed after viewing that replay.

Like I said, I don't have the answers, but the leagues has to do something to make it better.

They didn't miss the safety. Watch the last replay they show. Last lunge gets the entire ball over the goal line. The body in the end zone is meaningless.

That crew seemed to be leaning toward not appearing to be a "For Auburn" type homer officiating. . Like the SEC crew was afraid of being raped if they called the game right.

SEC officiating crews are the worst in CFB. Garbage. Its been the same for at least 30 years. I can't comprehend it, and I wished they would have used any crew other than the SEC, even the Big 10.

The refs were bad but ultimately it probably benefitted us more. That was not PI in the end zone on 4th and 2 but I also don't think it was on Pritchett. Throwing Zakoby out was ridiculous and the fact it held up on replay is completely inexcusable.

Throwing Zakoby out
He was absolutely crushed to be kicked out of that game. I felt for him. You could tell on his approach to that tackle that he was coached to not lead with his helmet.

He did everything absolutely right. If the ball carrier is deemed "defenseless" he should not be able to continue to advance the ball. Simple as that.
