They actually said it didn’t happen like that and he was allowed to return. The players didn’t like it and that is why they made a change.

It is my understanding these conditioning tests were traditional and required right when football players showed up to camp.
Coaches riding loafers isn't anything new.
Being unable to complete a conditioning test because your body is completely shutting down and in the process of death is not "loafing"

That's not the point. I dont see a breach from the coaching norms.

You change the culture by winning games. Go and look how badly his defense performed during his tenure these. I'm talking multiple 50-60+ points allowed games. Even without the off-field nonsense his tenure was a complete failure from a football perspective.
His tenure there was no different than Harsin's here. Lots of talk about toughness and "we're going to practice harder than anyone" but zero results whatsoever.
Durkin came up under Muschamp who himself was a horrible HC.

The coaching norms would typically include having enough brains to know when a player needs to backed off for their own health. A player who weighs 330 pounds complaining about cramping in what is already an overboard conditioning practice should immediately throw off RED FLAGS to anyone who is paid to train professional athletes.

I have done HS football and did similar tests. We used to run sprints from side to side of field all 53 yards jog 20 yards and do another 53 yard sprint all the way down the field.
Fact: fatties are always acting like they are bout to die.

I’m guessing Kelly is out too after last night. They hate him on the Bayou Be interesting if Sark actually leaves as well. Gonna be crazy

Kelly and Sark have huge buyouts. I don’t see it happening.

We can have conversations prior to firing Hugh can we not? Then waiting doesn’t make much of a difference if we can’t hire til the season is over. Maybe I am giving our AD too much credit

I'm almost convinced we're going to keep this guy.
Auburn may not be a contender in football again in most of our lifetimes.

Yep.

Sark wouldn’t be fired, just NFL rumors. Kelly agree on the buyout but it is so toxic they may pull the plug.

The incident at Vandy says a lot about his character. Telling a player to delete evidence from his phone and then lying about it shows who he is. That might be fine at Penn State but Auburn should not consider him.

Phone calls have been made. That’s all I’m saying.

already an overboard conditioning practice
I don't know anything other than what was posted in the last couple of pages of this thread but 10 110 runs isn't overboard.

Apparently some NFL teams still do it and some have more modern conditioning gauges. Either way. I dont see the inherent evil in Durkin's scandal. Should teams be more modern? Sure. But those tests were the standard.
In HS there was always kids making fun of the fatty that ate all year, did no exercise and acted like they were going to die every conditioning session.. The toxicity argument was made up by Karens that never played a lick of football.
