Well, we saw what hiring an outsider with no ties to the region brought with Harsin...
A background in the state of Alabama or Georgia is now inconsequential.
Talent is now clustered in large metro areas, or at mega academies.
Just quickly look at the rosters of UA and UGA.
More importantly, NIL is the main driver in recruiting premium talent.

Sumrall just won the game.
They tie the game on a 4th down touchdown, immediately force a three-and-out while calling timeouts to stop the clock, then they drive down the field and score a touchdown with ~30 seconds left.

Okay. Just look at the places Kelly has coached. He's coached all over Alabama, Atlanta, Knoxville, Tallahassee, Thibedeaux, LA....The guy has roots all over the south. A guy involved in HS and college football all over the south (aka those metro areas he has recruited his entire career) isnt important?

Hiring a ":recruiter" is less important now than it has ever been. Money wins recruiting battles now, not whether or not your HC knows the kid's HS coach well or not.
You need to get with the times.

Yup. Just look at DeBoner at uat. He was a shite recruiter at Washington that relied on the 5th year seniors from his predecessors.

That's what everyone said with Harsin.
A guy that understands the recruiting relationships and this new era of NIL (he did coach with Prime under NIL) with Auburn money backing seems like a match made in heaven.
He made pur team better while he was here. Just look at the int numbers from his tenure to this year.
I've yet to see an argument that dismisses him over any other G5/Non P4 coach with any credibiluty.
ETA: Charles Kelly has a natty attached to him...And guess who he beat to earn it...

Lol we have the "recruiter" now and he hasn't won a fricking thing.
And he doesn't have anything other than the "church" pitch.

All of you are yelling clouds. We still have a bum at HC and nothing really indicates we are making change. Let's enjoy watching Mizzou beat our arse.

Your username does not fit unless geniuses cannot understand football context.
Coach Kelly coached for 25 years and only went to JSU so he could be HC. He has been a Dameyune Craig his whole career. Auburn is too much for him.

Harsin didn't believe in NIL or recruiting, I fail to see what point you are trying to make there.
Why would I hire a 60+ year old with barely any HC'ing experience? If you want to go the route of someone who is unproven, why wouldn't I go and hire someone like Brian Hartline who is currently one of the hottest coordinators in the country and is coaching at the most dominant program in the country? Hartline is a better coordinator than Kelly was, and he is also a better position coach than Kelly ever was (he is the guy behind OSU's run of freakishly good WR's).

My original post was saying that we whiffed on everyone and that was as good as we could do.
This Mizzou game doesn't mean shite. Win or lose doesn't change the fact that our current staff is arse.

Yet he is doing better in his conference in his first year than our guy is doing in his third.
The guy has championship pedigree that our guy doesn't have.
He has relationships to pay off whoever needs to be paid to get players.
He's built a better staff in one year that Freeze has in his 3rd.
I am not saying he is first in line. Not by a long shot. But everyone seems to think Auburn cant hire anyone and he is just as good as any of the other last choices.

It still baffles me thar it never crossed Freezes mind to try to get Pavia from the portal after he trashed us on our field with a bunch of 2 stars at NM ST

What do you know about his conference? I am also an alum from JSU but couldn't care less about their football team

Charles Kelly is 57 and everyone is falling all over their dick for Cignetti who is pushing 70.

Not opposed at all. Kelly has a much more proven track record though. Hartline has never coached anywhere outside of Ohio State.
What is your evidence he can coach outside of Columbus?

IAmNERD must be related to Charles Kelly. Nobody stans for a complete non-candidate like this LOL. Either that or he is drunk off his arse.
Oh wow, Charles Kelly is 58 years old and after coaching for ~three decades is just now getting his first job as a HC at mighty Jacksonville State where he is 4-3. And I need to explain why Auburn shouldn't make him the HC?
