Frank Thomas to be honored at Plainsman Park. Finally, what a great he was to watch. I'm excited to see this!

Well deserved. Glad to see AU doing that. Still the best nickname in MLB history too.

Auburn has been trying to set this up for awhile, the delay has been on Frank Thomas' side.

My understanding is Thomas had a falling out with Auburn athletics (people) years ago, Butch has worked hard to rebuild that relationship and make this happen.

Always wondered why he was around the program much. Hopefully Butch can get him to be a more visible spokesman for the program.

Can't hurt to have the only Hall of fame SEC player sing your praises.

I was there to see him play football in one of his few appearances before he switched to baseball full-time.

One of my favorite AU athletes, class guy all the way around.

I wasn't told what the story was, just that Thomas was so upset about it that he wasn't even receptive to coming back and getting a statue

My understanding is that Thomas always rooted for Auburn sports teams/kids, just did not want to associate with our athletics department

It was fun to see Frank and Bo side by side with the White Sox.

Kid came up crying to his Dad about not being able to get Bo and Frank to sign autographs. The Father and son were about two rows down from e. I asked the Dad If I could talk to his son a minute. Craig came up ...told him to go to the outfield end of third base dugout and as loud as he could yell "War Eagle!" That got their attention.

Next we knew Craig comes up with a batting glove signed by each, then a bat, then a baseball. Kid was in seventh heaven.

That sucks. I always thought he kept to himself. I wonder what happened. Hopefully that's cleaned up.

Would love to see him around more

He was at the Kick 6. Glad this is getting done.

That's when ESPN was filming Bo, Barkley, and The Big Hurt. Not saying that he wouldn't have been there otherwise, but that may have been the driving factor.

In his HoF induction speech he mentioned Auburn several times, and specifically thanked Dye and Baird. I'm not sure if that's when things started getting better or not.

I'll just say my comments are based on a Convo I had with someone who worked AU Baseball. His tone at the time was optimistic because Butch was trying hard to bring him in
