I mean part of it was that we just shot the ball horribly.

Also we were just decent in conference but got scorching hot at the right time. Only difference is there is no Bryce or Jared at guard. I don’t see our current guys doing anything close to what they did that March.

Which happens to be a theme when our bigs encounter crowded paint. Guards can't open things back up by hitting open shots.

We literally had a song that went like "We got Jared." We would take him all day. Id settle for that punk that left Bama last year. Players like him can do damage in the tournament

The regression of Aden has really hurt us. What’s crazy is that he still has 11 more threes than the next guy. We really need him to figure it out.

The MRI he received confirmed no surgery required and he will return at some point.

That team looked like the prime Golden State Warriors at the end of the regular season and in March. The offense became near flawless and they still nearly won it all without Okeke. We’re galaxies away from that type of play.

So let’s just cut KD, Aden, Tre, and Tahaad before next season then
I'm not saying that. I'm just saying defensively that is not a good group *Pettiford could be a good defender though, just don't know yet.

Aden is not a terrible defender though and neither is Tre.
They are bad lol. They are both slow and can't stay in front of their man, Aden is just too small.

Yet we continue to go hard after elite HS guys. We don’t have the NIL to compete with a Kansas or UK where you can name your price for the entire lineup, but I would about guarantee you that for these guys Bruce has a competitive offer on the table. UnderArmour is for sure a barrier but hopefully that barrier is removed soon.
Since NIL we really only get one top recruit a year and then hit the portal for value. I do think Under Armour is on the way out though. Our coaches have already told the AD its holding them back for certain players. Nike and Adidas are signing players to deals in HS.. Under Armour isn't. Guys signed to Nike and Adidas will never play for an UA school.

We got lucky with Jaylin though. Happy for him that he didn't go out that way. I would rest him until the SEC tournament and I would still do limited mins just to get him back in game shape.

Tre is an above average defender. Aden is a below average defender. These are by SEC standards. UK’s guard play offensively is elite.

Just like the South Carolina game move on to the next one.

Not sure what everyone’s expectations were for the season but for me we have slightly exceeded mine. If we get to the semis or finals of the SEC tournament and to the round of 16 in the Big Dance I would call it exceeding any expectations prior to the season. Granted we need to finish out the conference strong. We have 5 games left depending on JayWills health anything 3-2 or better is fine.

Finish out 3-2 and even if we lost the first round of the SEC at worst I would expect us to be on the 6 line in seeding for March Madness.

Preseason I would have guessed 7-10 seed

Shooting wise its about what I expected, but wins and losses have been slightly better than I thought. Its been up and down, but still been a fun season.

NET 7
KenPom 6

After completion of yesterday’s games.

I would expect us to fall 1 spot in the AP

And I don’t see 8 or 9 SEC teams making the tournament. 6 most likely. 7 would be a stretch. It would take the favorites in some of those 1-2 bid leagues to win their tournaments for the SEC to get 7.
