It's pretty obvious everybody has been charged. As long as his parents haven't been charged, I don't see an issue.

Would we really make the decision to play Wiley or not based on how the season is playing out? That seems kind of shallow.

"Well, it looks like we're going to suck this season, why not let it ineligible guy play?"

AU won't risk giving the double finger to the NCAA in our secondary sport?

Depending on how SEC play goes I'd play him. If we are looking like we will lock up a spot in the tourney without him then I say don't play him. If it takes him playing to get us in the tourney then frick it. I'd honest to god be okay with whatever punishment we got if it meant getting into the tourney

I can't imagine he has been cleared by the ncaa and the school is holding him out. Why are people discussing this like it is legitimate info?

On the optimism of the day note, I'd point out that the/"a" core of this team is intact for another 1-2 years.

In Auburns first 4ish years under Bruce, our "Minutes Continuity" (i.e. minutes played by returning players w experience) was an avg of ~#275 nationally. Our avg experience was >#300 last year and so far this yr

Assuming the players predicted below return each year, Auburn would likely be in the top 50-100 in minutes in both continuity and experience, a first for Bruce

2018-19
PG- Harper (Jr) / Mitchell (So)
SG- Brown (Sr.)
SF- Samir Doughty(Jr.)
PF- Okeke (So) / Murray (Sr.)
C- McElmore (Jr.) / Spencer (Sr.)

Likely Departures:
SG/SF: Mustapha Heron
SF: Danjel Purifoy**
C: Austin Wiley**

2019-2020
PG- Harper (Sr.)
SG- Mitchell (Jr.)
SF- Samir Doughty (Sr.)
PF- Okeke (Jr.)
C- McElmore (Sr.)

Not really, he lacks size for his skill set.

I think the implication was that a good coach would have developed a better skill set

I don't see Heron going pro after this year. 50/50 to even be drafted. He has a lot to work on first, especially on defense.

While I agree that he probably should stay, there was too much smoke about him leaving to feel comfortable about him staying

I'd love to be wrong, especially if he starts to work hard at playing team D

Anfernee McElmore has a concussion. His availability for UConn will be TBD

quote:

The officials stopped play as trainers came out to check on McLemore. The sophomore went to the bench and didn't return for the rest of the game as the teams exchanged the lead six times. "He's loopy right now," Pearl said during his postgame interview on Auburn Sports Network.

So, since I missed the game yesterday and read through the game thread, Anfernee got a concussion because a Murray State player punched him? Or was that just a joke?

McLemore went up for a block, Murray State player went for a dunk. He got the block and it looked like the guy caught McLemore in the face. Was hard to tell in realtime and I don't think they ever showed a replay of it. I personally thought he caught an elbow in the face on the attempt, but like I said it was hard to tell. I do know that the officials went back and looked at it, didn't call a foul or anything.

Which is absurd because they called a flagrant 2 on Horace

I'm totally on board with a flagrant 1 on that play. Horace was trying to make a defensive play and just was sloppy and hit above the shoulders. That is textbook F1 foul for Horace being an idiot. F2 requires "unsportsmanlike conduct" that is "extreme in nature"

It was complete BS considering Horace immediately tried to help the guy up, he was clearly trying to make a play on the ball and he had done nothing in the leadup to suggest it was dirty.
