Just watched some tape of this kid. Has a soft shot and plays well around the basket. Makes good decisions driving to the basket looking to set up the bigs. Throws up some contested shots in traffic that have no business going in, but do anyway. I didn’t get to see him on defense, all offensive cuts in the film I watched, but with his length, he might be able to cause some havoc out front...or get run by against quicker guards. Offensive ability is there, if he can play defense, he’s definitely a 4* type player and will look good in O&B.

Jayden Stone says Auburn and Baylor are the schools recruiting him the hardest. He and his family loved the visit. He thinks he would fit well in the system and believes the coaching staff is “good people.” Wants to commit hopefully before senior season because he doesn’t like distractions.

Stone is a very similar player to Powell. He might be a little more of a 1/2 combo, but with Powell on board now and Cooper seeming like a lock,I've got to wonder if Stone is still a take with us. He's a player that I had been wanting for a while, but I'm happy with Powell

Yeah, they’re the same skill sets. If we get him, cool, if not, no surprise and oh well. I thought it was weird when he moved to Kansas to play ball when he was just two hours from Auburn in Anniston. Hooks says don’t be surprised if he’s in O&B, so will see.

Corey Evans ( national reporter for Rivals) actually predicted Jayden Stone to Auburn on May 16th on the Rivals site. A free article of his visit from Rivals:

We will be fairly thin at guard this year, so it would definitely help to bring in Stone along with Powell and Cooper. I'm not sold on Jamal Johnson being anything more than a 10th guy. And it'd be dumb to turn away a top 50 player in Stone that wants to come here.

I'm guessing we'll have 5 spots for the 2020 class, Wiley, Doughty, Purifoy, McLemore, and McCormick will all be seniors this year and I don't see anybody leaving early from this year's team.

Cooper
Powell
Stone
Boston
Kessler

That seems like the best case scenario class. 4 top 50 guys and one that's underrated and potentially a 4 year guy

Auburn offers 2021 5* Shooting Guard Terrence Clarke

quote:

Auburn's pursuit of 5-star talent continues.

Auburn offered 5-star shooting guard Terrence Clarke, who is rated the nation's No. 2 overall prospect in the class of 2021, has been offered by nearly two dozen schools, with the Kentucky Wildcats at the top, according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball projections.

Auburn jumped into the fray Sunday, offering the 6-foot-6, 180-pound shooter out of Brewster Academy in Boston.

Clarke is projected to be a No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft at some point in his career, per 247Sports director of basketball scouting Jerry Meyer. He compares him to Phoenix Suns guard Josh Jackson.

"Has a long, wiry physique for a shooting guard with quality athleticism," Meyer writes. "Can be explosive but also has tremendous body control. His court vision and feel for the game are off the charts. Tremendous passer. Good ball handler who loves to go left and utilizes changes of speed. Can score in multiple ways. Jump shot is consistently improving. Plays with energy and comes up with loose balls and rebounds outside his area. Also is a multi positional defender. A potential No. 1 pick in the draft."

Evan Daniels, the 247Sports director of basketball recruiting, watched the star at the Nike EYBL in Dallas, where he earned the designation as the event's top performer. Clarke is averaging 17 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game while hitting 43.6 percent from the field for Expressions Elite on the EYBL circuit.

"It’s been a few months since my last viewing of Clarke and upon first glance he’s grown at least an inch and is pushing a legit 6-foot-7, which is obviously good size for a perimeter prospect," Daniels wrote when naming him a top performer. "His body is maturing as well, as he looks noticeably stronger. An aggressive scorer, Clarke showed his ability to break down defenders and get to the rim, he was effective in transition and has significant upside.

quote:

"The knock on his game has been his jump shot, and while his number aren’t necessarily from three in the EYBL (22-for-65), they are improved, and so has his mechanics. It’s clear he’s made an adjustment, and his shot is more fluid and clean, which is a great sign. He’s one of the best prospects in the 2021 class."

Clarke is rated the nation's No. 1 overall shooting guard in the country in the class of 2021.

Auburn has been on a tear chasing 5- and 4-star prospects after advancing to the Final Four last season. Guard Jaden Springer, a 5-star prospect, visited Auburn over the weekend.

Interesting. He's certainly athletic enough, but might have to put on a little weight to play TE

You would think that wouldn't be too difficult for him. He's 6'6 230lbs on a basketball workout/weight plan. I could easily see him adding extra weight in a football regimen.

Many players made the transition from basketball to football as TEs, but most did it with school eligibility left where they were afforded time to realign to their new craft. Dunbar has a long road ahead of him if he wants to play football.

He's got the frame too for sure. I'm not sure I see him being physical enough for football though. He was basketball physical, but idk about football physical, Malik doesn't have a mean bone in his body.

Horace Spencer would wreck some fools though, he should get into boxing.

I'm a little surprised he is as interested as he apparent;y is. With Turbo, Ruffin and hopefully Cooper minutes at PG aren't going to come easy. Maybe coach Pearls willingness to play 2 pg's together is part of the appeal. Idk
