I totally agree with everything you said. So much of my optimism coming into the year was based on Wiley/Purifoy being back to AT LEAST what they were as freshmen, and Samir Doughty being more of a scoring threat. Well, Wiley/Purifoy have honestly been closer to complete non-factors than being what they were as freshmen. The foot injury seems to have made it a wasted year for Wiley and for whatever reason Purifoy can't find his groove. Samir simply doesn't seem cut out for SEC ball.

Without the Person saga I guarantee we'd have another guy or two on the roster we could turn to as options but it is what it is. I still love where we are going forward as a program even though this team is more limited than we hoped.

It wasn’t entirely because of the Person situation, but that was a reason we lost out on EJ who would have filled a major gap for us.

We can have consecutive 20 win seasons, and we can still play well when the shots are fallen. We have an anything can happen kind of team. Maybe we can make a pleasant run in the SEC tournament similar to tbe Georgia run that occurred while the stadium was leaking. Auburn needs buzz and getting some would help Bruce recruit since he is the greatest hype man on this side of the earth. FWIW, JMO, and don’t shoot the messenger

lol. That's more like it. I agree with these comments.

That's what is so great about being a fan and wanting our team to continue to climb that success ladder in basketball.

Ofc, I too realize, that this years team just didn't replace our lost players. On paper, it looked great, but injuries, lack of improvement made us an easier team to defeat.

And throw in, like Pearl said, that the league got better, but we didn't shows where we are as a team.

A guard heavy offense, bc we lack height and strength inside w additional scoring (outside of Okeke).
And teams that are successful in shutting down our PG from running our offense, and our SG from getting touches causes us to lose games, which happened more than last year.

But as you said, we can get to over 20 wins again, get to the NCAAs in back to back years again after 20 years, and have a chance in the NCAAs.

The only big negative: we're not a top 10 team like we hoped.

It's not just that we are guard heavy, but our guards are small and can't really score off the bounce against decent competition.

I highly agree with all of that. The good thing is we got a strong recruiting class this go around and the time for retooling can begin. As good as Brown has been, it’s going to be wonderful if we start pulling in replacements after replacements that are rated 100 to 200 spots higher. And I believe I read that Bruce was selling a recruit on this at one time.

You realize that Kansas, a basketball blue blood program, just got beat by 30 this weekend, right? shite happens man. Honestly, UK might be the best team in the country right now. We didn’t have our A game and they made us pay for it.

Kansas is a blue blood but they’re not that strong this year. Their SG even left during the season.

Garrett Tucker
@GTuckerHoops
Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl + an assistant & three Alabama assistants in attendance for tonight’s highly anticipated matchup between Sacred Heart & Calhoun at the Alabama 2A state semi-finals. 2020 guard Jayden Stone & 2021 guard J.D. Davison are the headliners

They’re still top 15 and one game out of first place in the big 12

Contract extension discussions should resume after the season.

Gameday!!! 8am CT @ Georgia.

Georgia is playing better, it’s on tbe road, and it’s a mid week game. Going to need the dub though.

OT: texag7 was exposed on the rant and he’s shockingly more distasteful and disturbing than I imagined.

Nah there was an 8 page thread at 4 this morning titled “Texag... I honestly have help for you. no trolling”
...and Bama fans were defending Texagbro.

And another three to four page thread titled: Who was exposed more Will Wade or TexAg7.

SIAP This is an eye raiser. Andy Katz, who writes & contributes for NCAA.com, has AU one of the last 4 teams in having to play a play in game against Clemson. LINK

Only way that prediction makes sense is if he thinks we are going to finish 1-4
