We dominated and I don’t think we played close to our best basketball. Harper and Brown both had off nights shooting. Okeke and Doughty have been great additions. Dunbar looks good coming off the bench. The environment last night was amazing...I’ve never seen it better. I’m glad the game went like it did so Bruce could leave Wiley on the floor. He obviously had some rust to shake off and we will need him down the stretch. It’s nice to know we have a big man that can come in and help us. I thought he ran the court pretty well. Skies the limit for this team this year...can’t wait for the upcoming tournament. It would be awesome to get a crack at Duke this early in the season. Would be a true litmus test and a great experience. War Eagle!

He ran very well. Bruce wasn’t kidding when he said we wouldn’t have to wait on Wiley.

Wiley is going to have to move his feet on defense. He was either getting beat or picking up a foul. As a team, Auburn defends really well by moving their feet. That’s why some of those calls on McCormick were so bad. He had position and didn’t reach. Austin will adjust, but it’s going to take some time.

Will Purifoy come off the bench? I have a hard time seeing whose spot he takes

It would have to be Doughty, but he’s playing too well to lose minutes. It’s still early though.

ETA: Doughty isn’t losing his spot if he keeps his playing this well.

Yeah he’s clearly worked on the three and is maybe our most dangerous scorer with his driving ability.

Doughty is a great basketball player. The practice reports hype from last year is fulfilled.

Okeke attacked the soft spots in their zones all night.

Great win.

...And Purifoy will be even rustier than Wiley is.

When Purifoy played in that one exhibition game..i think he missed all of his shots.

Purifoy still plays out of control at times, so I expect Doughty to play a lot when it counts and Purifoy will come in to give him a rest most of the time.

Purifoy hasn't practiced with anyone other than the scout team since the Person scandal broke last season. It's going to take time for him to build chemistry and play his way into game shape.

I saw a projection earlier on the Twitter that had us moving up to #7 in the polls.

Why wouldn’t it be? Give me one reason we haven’t earned it compared to the field in front of us

I think he’s talking about Purifoy practicing with the scout team. Which probably is true. Last year we needed the guys that were actually going to play to build chemistry.

First time posting since the game. WOW what a performance against that zone. We are seriously dangerous on offense. I see a little of what Villanova has been the past few years on that side of the ball. Shooters at 4+ positions and its really difficult to defend. When some are cold (Harper & Brown) others will be able to pick up those points. The defense looks pretty good when we want to be.

Doughty is everything he was talked up to be plus the shooting, which is a nice surprise. He’s a terror on defense and does it all pretty well on O.

Okeke is a beast plain and simple. Slimming down a little bit is clearly helping him get off the floor quicker and has been huge so far. Him and McLemore are crashing the glass hard on offense. He’s got NBA written all over him. Lots of scouts at the game Friday and I’m sure they noticed.

JMO but I think Purifoy takes Doughty’s spot. He’s got the most NBA potentialal along with Chuma. You just can’t teach 6’8 while still being that athletic. He played bad in the exhibition game but he’s got a great shot - Don’t forget he shot 88% from the FT line the year he actually played for us. Doughty could continue to kill it and keep that spot but just one guys thoughts on what will happen.

Sorry for the long post but this may be the most excited I’ve ever been for any Auburn sports season, regardless fo sport. We are legit and we play a fun brand of basketball. Xavier + Duke will be a nice little measuring stick early in the year.

Can’t say it enough, Bruce is the man.

Initially, yes. May depend on matchups as well. We have enough versatility with everyone except Wiley and Harper playing multiple positions. Everyone will get good minutes. Spencer will be the odd man out with minutes, should somebody suffer from lack of playing time.

In the scrimmage portions of practice all last year and most of preseason this year he has been on the scout team. I'm not sure if that has changed yet.

No reason to play an ineligible player on something other than scout

Duke looked really mediocre today, definitely not world beaters. It was just the big bad #1 draft pick picking on weak players. If they had growing pains with Army's pressure, I like our chances.
