How do you know what he blew on the PBT? It doesn’t say.
Drinking and driving at any age is complete stupidity. But we try to overlook it or make excuses because they can shoot a basketball or throw a football.
1 person is killed every 30 minutes in the US by a drunk driver.

What many on this board fail to realize is this;
You are allowed LEGALLY to consume ALCOHOL up to a BAC level of .08.
therefore it is LEGAL TO DRINK AND DRIVE. To a certain degree. That is a fact yall are going to have to come to grips with.
yes he was underage, so yes it was stupid and he deserves to be punished, however, the legal drinking age used to be 18 in this country when becoming a man at 18 meant something. so its a grey area when it comes to drinking in my book.
As long as you're not drunk and consume responsibly by staying under the legal limit of .08. I dont see the big deal past the age of 18.

So you have no clue.
I know what the DUI laws are but drinking and driving other then having a drink or beer at dinner is just stupid.
I seriously doubt Tahaad had a glass of wine with his lasagna and then drove.

quote:Eh, you could probably have a six pack while watching a football game and still be under the .08 limit. Its all about the length of time while consuming.

He never said it wasn't. He's saying that the beer at dinner in your example would maybe hit .02 which wouldn't make him impared at all. His argument revolves around age. The law says Tahaad, a 19 year old male athlete, would be under the influence at .02 but a 90lb 21yo female wouldn't be under the influence until her BAC was four times higher.
The main reason for the .02 limit for under age is that the equipment isn't always accurate to .01 so someone with no alcohol in their system may not blow 0.0.
All that said, we don't know what happened and if he was driving impaired, then he's an idiot and needs punishment.

We really have people defending drinking and driving and saying it's no big deal.
Pure ignorance. I think the responses here are dumber then Tahaad driving drunk. What a stupid world we live in.

I think you are missing the point. I dont condone drunk driving. I condone legal drinking and driving

No you're trying to excuse breaking the law. If the law is .02 and Tahaad was at or over .02 whatever justification you are trying to make is just stupid. He broke the law, got arrested, and will have to deal with the consequences.
The moral of the story regardless if you think you're legal or not it's just ignorant to drive after drinking. Which you are attempting to defend.
