Hear me out. No not trying to make any particular point just something to consider.

After the South Carolina game this weekend our first 4 opponents of the season will more then likely be 4 of the top 6 defenses in the SEC (with UGa being the best by far). With us being being at the 2 spot in defense in the conference.

Just a question but and purely hypothetical but are we struggling scoring more because of offense( poor OL and average QB play) or playing opponents with decent defenses?

Legit to think about and I understand the frustration this isn’t about firing the coach. I’ve already stated with the perception in the fan base it’s time to move on but will be after next season for reasons discussed multiple times.

What if we run up 50 on OM, 35 on UT, 45 on LSU... still bad offense or just bad defense.

In no way can I predict the future but those are possible outcomes.

At this point we are 2-1 we have probably at this point played the most complete team on our schedule. Guess we will find out which team is the best on our schedule this weekend when Bama plays UGa.

Just some musing for thought. If you want to carryon a conversation about Auburn football I welcome it. If you want to default to just fire the coaches take it to another thread please.

I think defense in the SEC is really bad this year. We are second in the SEC in Points per game but 127th in third down defense.

Shockingly,
Bama is now 128th, Florida 129th.

yep I pointed out in another thread we are giving up 56% conversion on 3rd on defense.

Corch you gotta give it up bro. If you're really trying to insinuate it's acceptable to be struggling against Kentucky, Arkansas, and South Carolina wtf does that say about our expectations for this program under Gus?

Also,

We scored basically 30 against UK and Arky. Uga dominated us. I'll give you that.

So in your opinion outside of UGa who is good?

So what you are saying is Western Carolina is the Big12 champs this year?

Seriously, just asking a normal question. Do you think the struggle offensively is playing actual decent defenses or because our offense if putrid?

And there is nothing to give up. Somethings i see that others dont, sometimes i'm wrong, sometimes i'm not. That is yet to be determined this year. I said 8-2/7-3 prior to the season and I'm still sticking to that. In my opinion I think either of those is a good year. You may feel differently.

This year if we could play UK and Ark 10 times, we'd win 5 and lose 5. If we played UGA 10X we'd lose all 10. That's the level of this program right now.

We have zero shot to beat Bama and against the remaining middling teams (UsCe, MSU, OM, A&M) its 50/50. I'd put our chance to beat UT and LSU at about 30%.

I think it's clear it is because our offense is putrid. If you think Arkansas and Kentucky have a good defense relative to where we want to be and should be as a program I don't know what to tell you. Maybe we have different expectations.

We had all kinds of trouble moving the ball against Kentucky until they turned it over inside the 25 twice late in the game.

We scored 2 offensive touchdowns Saturday against Arkansas.

Our offense scored 29 against UK (14 coming on short fields of 27 and 23 yards) and 23 against Arky (can’t give the offense credit for a blocked punt).

This is not happening with Fieldgoal Gus Morris running the offense.

The red zone playing calling issues are not due to the defenses. Same shite different year.

Then I will be shocked and give Gus credit for getting things turned around.

I fail to see any logic in anything you post. You have an unhealthy hatred of all things Auburn it seems. Nothing about this years offense is like before. How many red zone fade to Seth were thrown under Gus calling plays? How many pass plays at all except possibly 3rd and long inside the red zone? Seems very different to me. Play calling, route tree, formations. There are very few hold overs in that regard. If you can’t see a difference in the offense scheme and play calling Thats on you. And anyone that thinks RG is bad coach, recruiter, and talent developer I’m not sure has any football knowledge at all anyway.

I’m fairly certain we can put up 40 on Ole Miss and 28 on LSU. Guys... defenses are bad this year. Again, we are second in the conference in D yet we made bum Franks look like a damn stud.

No surprise at all coming from someone that think Rodney Garner is doing a good job.

Unfortunately, in order to win we would have to hold Ole Miss to 39 and LSU to 27.

As good as we made Franks and his cobbled-together offense look, I'm not optimistic that we can do that against Corral and Brennan.

Yeah. We fricked. Chad and Gus going to go down together it seems like this year. At Auburn’s expense.
