I agree but it is the first real in depth look at what happened that isn't close enough to be biased with time

Agreed. Allowing Rhett Lashlee input over Dameyune Craig is hilariously stupid.

Anyways, hopefully Auburn can move on and get the offense back on the map.

Yeah because DC is such a great playcaller

Let's call it like it is.... DC got too big for his britches and caused disruption last year, always getting mad at not having much influence. An offense he's only known for a few years at that. Unlike RL, who has had input into it for years.

Lashlee sure did a fine job last year. What hake was it that even the TV announcers said maybe should try something besides run up the middle on first down?

Maybe DC wanted more input and Gus let him in on calling plays along with he and Lashlee, and they could never find a rhythm or balance because of it. Could explain why our play calling went from great to dysfunctional. They went back to just them calling plays for the bowl game and DC gets pissed and leaves for LSU..

Either way, I like the additional input into our running game with Herb Hand and love the recruiting prowess of TWill. We improved our staff, imo.

Yeah. Let's let 3 different people have a role in play calling. Sounds like a fricking nightmare

So why name him a co-OC?

I mean it's funny how many were bitching about the play calling last year, and it didn't occur to Gus maybe give some of DC's ideas a try?

I have no idea if Craig is OC material, but if there was a time to add some wrinkles it was last year. Our RZ was horrendous, and our between the twenties offense was lacking as well.

With that said Craig is gone and Gus has in place who he wants. We have talent and possibilities. Let's see what happens, but I will not be full posi this season.

Why did he claim he didn't have enough influence last year but leave for a job with even less influence? Maybe he wasn't a good fit and was told to step? We all know why he was named Co-oc... compensation for his recruiting effort. What he's extremely good doing.

Back to spring practice....

I am curious to see if Darius James gets a shot at LT with all the hype he has gotten. I like the idea of moving Golson back outside where he is more comfortable and starting Dampeer at C. Wouldn't be shocked if we rolled with an OL of James/Kozan/Dampeer/Smith/Golson with Leff being the 6th man again where he doesn't have to pass block.

Also Lashlee mentioned they plan on using TE more this season. Hoping they follow through on that as I like both Jalen Harris & Landon Rice we really missed having a big dude to throw to in endzone last season or at least to pull defenders away

Lol don't fricking hold your breathe. We may put one on the field but it will only be to block and run one pass route.

Oh I don't have any illusions of TEs putting up gaudy numbers but offense needs a TE threat in the redzone or an option to throw to on 3rd down. Uzomah & Lutz never put up big time numbers but they kept drives moving and helped finish off drives. We got none of that from the TE last season

As wonderful as using a TE more would be, it's the same stuff every year. "We're planning on using [insert name of TE here] more this year. We think he can do a lot of different things for us in the passing game."

Or "We're working on a special package for [insert backup QB here]."

And like with Rudy Ford, he's a special player, but that special offensive package for him is never going to see the light of day, just like most of the other bs coach speak that Malzahn talks during spring practice.
