Asked who would start at QB if Auburn had to play a game Saturday, Malzahn: "We don't have to play a game Saturday."

Malzahn, says he'll be involved coaching "on the offensive side." Pretty clear that Ellis Johnson has full and total control of the defense.

This is encouraging. At least Malzahn knows his place.

Agreed. Though, I have read Malzahn is still hands on with the defense, which is good. He is just letting Johnson coach his way.

We should be noticeably bigger on defense this year.

Frost 6'2.5 233
Cass 6'3 243
Garrett 6'2 215

all the dbs around 6' 200

King and Flowers will compete for starting jobs too.

Flowers will probably play around 230/235 and King is up over 215.

Avery Young is still not 100%. The real battle for the RT spot will be in the fall when he is fully healthy.

Young is hurt, Miller is pretty darn athletic though. I think he could do really well in Gus's offense. Remember when Tony Franklin came in and asked all the linemen to lose like 40-50 lbs each so they would be more athletic and we got our shite pushed in

Patrick Miller has made strides according to practice notes too.

Then like everyone said, Avery Young isn't 100% and still trying to get adjusted to playing again

Most everyone looked like shite last year. He was a true freshman after all, and he's in a new scheme now. Give him a chance

By that logic, insert any player besides maybe Mason into your previous comment.

I watched a TF play the second toughest offensive-line position when he needed a RS year to put on weight because he came in light. Every program that recruited him knew he needed a RS year to add weight. Thanks to Chizik & Grimes, we had no other option but to start a true freshmen that should have been watching from the sidelines against the best defensive ends in the country.

And according to your logic, every single player (except maybe a handful) on our team blows.

ETA: He came out of HS weighing 275 lbs. He was also a top 150/200 player in the entire country.

Wasn't he a true freshman? Dude isn't that bad. It might have been the lsu game where he held his own against really good competition.

He was an undersized true freshman playing a physically demanding position in the best conference in America and you have came to the conclusion that he blows?
