People improve year over year you fricking f aggot. I like the fact that we have 6-year OL. Tank needs to play all the special teams because he's nothing more than an average back who fumbles. He can't run behind a zone blocking OL.
I was watching a bama game and DeVonta Smith went back to receive a punt and the commentator said he didnt like putting your best player back there to receive punts. Other announcer said, thats why they call it special teams...and on cue... DeVonta broke one for the house.
I think a veteran line helps. A game a while back the defense is a three front and the end lines up over our LT. Before the snap an edge moves up to the outside of their end, now our LT has two men in front of him no one in front of our guard. No communication, ball is snapped our LT blocks the end, the edge runs untouched past him, and our LG has no hope of running around our LT and blocking him...and our QB is nearly decapitated. A simple, LG you now take the end and Ill get this edge, but no communication.
I also think the packages Utah is talking about will help, TE to provide extra line support in blocking, with the threat of releasing into the middle or flat with a mismatch, would do wonders to the passing and running game.
Tank has his little tantrum, he got his NIL money, now lets see him earn it.

Saban has also lost a few stars to injury just being on special teams. Williams iron bowl targeting was on special teams and that changed the game for Bama.
I don't think Tank should be on special teams and you need someone like a WR or DB with quick acceleration and ability to make people miss.

quote:Tank and DeVonta Smith are two completely different types of players. DeVonta is much more explosive/quick twitch and has WAY more top end speed. Tank has good vision, is great a breaking tackles, and is elusive, but he doesn't have great speed.

Not to mention, DeVonta Smith was one of like 4 or 5 weapons on that offense. If he got injured then its just the next 5* stepping into that role. We have 1 player on that level and his name is Tank. If he gets hurt then our offense is dead.

jt, take a deep breath, I never said the two were alike, the discussion was putting a star player back there. DeVonta will probably make 100 million in his life, the other not likely

chex, ya killin me, you been drinking what jang imbibes?
i laughed when he attached a note about the WR transfer from Arky state not being too keen on us after a visit. I have visions of the kid watching our practice and just shaking his head.

Why you gotta use such pinky out words. Say shitface or something. shite!
BTW, I haven’t personally seen the Intel but apparently the receiver felt awkward and alone in the WR room meetings.

My point was, Tank is not a one cut and go back ala Alex Gibbs. He's been coached to be one by Lindsey under Gus and now Harsin. He also puts the ball on the ground. A lot. This sounds like the Seth Williams argument all over again. Seth was garbage because he didn't try when he wasn't getting the ball, Tank is just a bad fit for our scheme. He's not a jump-cut zone back.

C Clemente says Landon King is working at WR as of today. He expects him in the WR room going forward.

Ok. I am glad they are moving him there but...
If they have so many TEs and number problems and big WRs, why did they wait, I wonder till after some practices?
Are the WRs that bad, or they need numbers (maybe both).

From Clemente of Rivals:
quote:
Notes from today's practice. BMatt will have video up a little later
-As I posted in the other thread, Landen King was working with the WRs today. Thin position and he's got the speed to move there. Good move. He looked comfortable out there. He did drop two passes in a row though. Mental mistakes of it just going straight through his hands. He ran the drill a 3rd straight time and hauled it in that time. Coaches and players encouraged him and praised him.
-First two LBs in drills were Cam Riley and Wesley Steiner with Eugene Asante and Des Tisdol behind them
-First team OL today was LT Kilian Zierer, LG Kam Stutts, C Jalil Irvin, RG Tate Johnson, RT Brenden Coffey
-Robby Ashford had quite a few missed throws. Harsin told him to go with the seams a couple of times
-Harsin seemed to be happy with the quarterback performance overall, though
-Tank Bigsby continues to look more comfortable catching ball out of the backfield
-Tar’Varish Dawson made some tough catches along the sideline. I'm tapering my expectations because it is just practice, but I really, really like what I'm seeing out of him
-Holden Geriner had some good throws and is settling in well
-Ja’Varrius was back at practice today

Steeler, next season is going to be rough.
Not liking the depth at WR, OL, and LB so far.
