AG didn't get fired. He quit when he was told that a decision on his contract would be made after football season.

Technically, this is usually the case. Call it what you will, he was forced out. Semantics really.

Word from JGT is new Auburn prez has been dragging his feet regarding the new contract. So yeah semantics. He wasn’t getting a contract. Why did news break this week I have no clue. But JGT said very early yesterday morning before news even broke that he heard bad news for ADAG

ADAG walked yesterday and leaked to the media he was walking. Most bang for the Buck moment for him. 2 weeks from now it wouldn’t even be mentioned other then Auburn and Greene are going in different directions. So Greene got his pity party he was looking for with the timing

Greene leaving will be a fart in the wind by game day this Saturday. I suspect that AU will wait until after the football season to hire a permanent replacement. That would seem to make the most sense to me, and we have an interim in place.

With Harsin’s seat being hot I’m curious how they handle it. Do you go ahead and make a move so the AD has time to get his feet wet for a few months before they have to potentially hire the most important hire they will make, or do you take that hire out of their hands and go the search committee route again.

My guess that decision depends entirely on who you’re able to get and how far down your wishlist you have to go.

I can't recall a Power 5 AD making a move during one of the major sports seasons, so I was thinking from that perspective. I don't think it will come to this, but you can always use a search firm to backchannel coach's agents through the AU Presidents office. It seems pretty obvious he's going to be interested and involved in athletics, unlike Gouge.

With NIL now a major part of college athletics why not hire a sport's agent for the AD role? They tend to have amazing connections and are skilled negotiators.

As I said earlier, I’m almost positive it will be Tim Jackson. They went in-house for President and will do again for AD. PTB want to keep things close to home. So, with Jackson already there, they can time the announcement whenever, but he can still be working on the next Auburn head coach.

I also wouldn’t totally rule out them bringing JJ back home.

so do i

unfortunately he’s probably not far off the mark

promoting Tim Jackson or re-hiring JJ would be neck-and-neck in the “Most Auburn Thing Ever” competition

Pat Dye's son is a lawyer who represents athletes. I wonder if he might be a candidate for the job?

He’s a very sharp lawyer but it’d be quite a financial setback for him

Doug Gillin - App State

Led them into the FBS, where they have since had multiple ten win seasons and conference championships. Was previously at Missouri as Deputy AD when they transitioned into the SEC.

I love the suggestion but we will most likely go the JABA route and promote from within sadly.
