You’ve got people screaming it’s time to fire Saban because he lost two games this year.
Saban’s accomplishments are all the more remarkable in that he’s had no “down” years since that first season at Bama. I think most fans are a little more sophisticated about the challenges his successor will face.
That said, I agree that there will be a power struggle there when he gives up the mantle. We can only hope their HC search resembles their previous ones.

I mean we are switching to 12 teams. So that’s probably likely. Just gotta finish top ~3 in SEC and you’re in. If it stayed at 4 teams I would definitely take that bet. There will be a drop off because Saban is the greatest CFB coach of all time and the outside noise of their entitled fan base will cause some pressure. Like others have said - this year there are actually some real fans who have been calling for Saban’s head, more rational ones probably not. But still, that tells you what kind of entitled crazies you have to deal with. Man oh man, they have forgotten the “Mike Years”

That could very well happen. But, will it be enough? Frank Solich went to a National Championship Game. Gene Bartow went to a Final Four in his second year (losing to undefeated NC Indiana) and was fired after a Sweet 16 the next year.
Bama’s next coach may do very well but they will never live up to Saban.

Saban will always be the greatest coach there. I don’t see coaches staying at Clemson for their statue and turning down the opportunity though.
